The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for mechanical design and development, new product introduction, supplier technical support and quality assurance of casino products to achieve business goals and objectives. This role will also drive continuous process improvement and support ongoing manufacturing and field related technical issues.Responsibilities

  • Design, review and approve system level mechanical architecture and detailed designs for all hardware products to include casino gaming slot machines and merchandising and related sub-components such as monitors, pedestals, button decks, doors, cable harnesses and PCBA’s
  • Complete mechanical feasibility studies to confirm new Industrial Designs comply with functional and technical product requirements
  • Lead and supervise design reviews
  • Ensure design validation test plans are developed, completed, reviewed and approved for all products
  • Ensure a structured engineering and design process using good engineering practices is implemented and followed
  • Lead the successful implementation of new product launch into mass production through support of all mechanical slot and merchandising components
  • Ensure product designs comply with agency standards UL22, GLI-11 and FCC (47 CFR 15)
  • Supervise risk assessment, identify priority and mitigation strategy, and communicate to team members and stakeholders
  • Cross functional collaboration with all departments to implement designs that greatly enhance the overall player experience
  • Coordinate troubleshooting activities and implement corrective actions on hardware issues for internal cabinets as well as customer related field problems
  • Recruit, evaluate and retain industry leading talent to maintain proper resource levels for achieving business objectives
  • Develop career plans for team members that provide a challenging and rewarding work environment
  • Mentor and train engineers to achieve career goals and improve technical abilities
  • Communicate project status clearly, effectively to all stakeholders
Skills/Requirements
  • Strong problem solving and leadership skills with a sense of urgency
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team of engineers
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5 years public or consumer product design experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical CAD modeling and database management software, preferably in SolidWorks
  • Ability to meet changing demands and to adapt to frequently changing priorities
  • Experience with low and high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Experience resolving problems from design engineering to production assembly
  • Experience with gaming or other consumer or public-use human-interface products
  • Experience with nationally recognized safety lab submissions (UL or ETL preferred. CE a plus)
  • Experience with design and management for market jurisdiction compliance
  • Experience with mechanical design of computing hardware devices including but not limited to motherboards, controllers, sensors, etc.
  • Experience with MS SharePoint a plus
  • Experience with human interface devices including but not limited to flat panel displays, touch screens, buttons, cameras, sensors, etc.
  • Experience with designing and administering test methods and equipment for validating prototypes
  • Experience with authoring technical product specifications, manufacturing, assembly, and instruction documentation
  • Superior written and oral communication skills are mandatory
