We are seeking a PhD Research Scientist who can setup new lab in Las Vegas area for Silicon Valley biotech/diagnostics company. Scientist will be responsible for performing key aspects of technology development including, but not limited to, human/rodent tissue models and cell line control development, optimization, and validation. The individual will work to conceptualize and execute on a variety of tissue development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Development, optimization, and execution of assays to quantify targets at the DNA, RNA, protein, and functional level from 3D tissues and control cell lines.
Collection and analysis of data with complete documentation of experiments.
Contribute significantly to identifying and developing other innovative technology improvements related to tissue biomarker development
Preparation and analysis of 3D tissue and cell line models via alternative techniques including:
FFPE tissue prep, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, ELISA, Flow cytometry, QPCR
Experience creating 3D cultures a plus
Strong microscopy skills, including experience with confocal and digital pathology platforms. Light sheet microscopy experience a plus.
Contributing to scientific publications, patents, and grant applications
Execution on key external projects; academic or industry collaborations
Development and validation of biomarker assays; write reports, SOPs, and procedure manuals
Strong communication/presentation skills as well as strong written and computer skills
Ability to work in cross-functional environments as well as the potential to manage scientist/research associate level staff
Desire and ability to spend majority of the time in a laboratory
