The Accounting Technician II position can include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, HOA Membership and/or Payroll responsibilities. Accounts payable responsibilities include processing vendor invoices and payments and performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions. Accounts Receivable / HOA Membership responsibilities include providing financial, clerical and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely and accurate receivable of accounts. Payroll Responsibilities include processing and auditing payroll data using timekeeping software to ensure proper and timely calculation and payment of wages to employees. Responsibilities of an Accounting Technician II also include all responsibilities of an Accounting Technician I.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Accounts Payable
above-average job knowledge of the accounts payable desk and all Accounting Technician I items
understanding of basic accounts payable principles
consistently thorough in carrying out all details of the job
require minimal supervisor direction
high knowledge in Microsoft Excel
import bill spread sheets into excel, i.e. AT&T bill, Property Taxes, etc.
contact vendors that have stale TDA checks, send letters to proceed with the unclaimed property for the State of California process
prepare information for 1099
ability to cross-train a co-worker to cover in case of extended absence
hold regular meeting with managers to address issues that may be foreseen and avoided
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Accounts Receivable / HOA Membership
review AR aging to ensure compliance
generate age analysis
organize a recovery system and initiate collection efforts
process adjustments/small balance write offs
consistently meet deadlines (statement mailings, finance charge postings, etc.)
complete daily sales audit on time and be able to investigate and solve daily sales discrepancies
require minimal supervisor direction
exhibit excellent customer service skills, know how to deal with angry customers and turn situation around
high knowledge of Microsoft Excel
understanding of basic accounts receivable principles
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Payroll
high knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
assist with preparation of payroll journal entries
high knowledge of Microsoft Excel
oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports
interpret new legislation impacting payroll
manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production
review and improve payroll policies and procedures
assist Human Resources with processing employee information into the payroll system including deactivating terminated employees in timekeeping system and payroll software
reconcile all computer reports required for payroll processing including workers compensation reports, check registers, 401k and payroll tax reports to be reviewed by Accounting Manager
require minimal supervisor direction

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training in accounting and cash handling; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires general understanding of computer software programs including word-processing, spreadsheets, and accounting package and high level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Requires possession of valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the Association insurance carrier.
