We are looking for a Preschool Teacher's Aide and Teacher to support our students ranging in ages 2-5 in a Reggio Emilia and RIE setting. Assist in the care, development and instruction of children in a preschool program. As part of the education team, under the general direction of the Director, the Teacher helps plan and guide classroom, playground, and field trip activities. These activities are designed to foster or enhance all areas of the child's development. Duties/Responsibilities:

General requirements for personnel as stated in Title 22 licensing requirements.

Knowledge and experience with the basic principles of child development.

Complete tasks on task sheet at start and end of each shift.

Preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish), or Spanish-speaking.

Proof of a physical examination within the last year, which includes a tuberculosis test and comply with other background checks.

Be open to and implement curricula in the classroom using the Reggio Emilia and RIE® inspired program.

Participate in pre-service training.

Implement curricula in the classroom.

With the teacher, guide and facilitate activities of the children, including daily activities, field trips, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom.

Write weekly observations per assessment procedure.

Use home visits and parent conferences to discuss the child’s individual development and progress, assist the parents in developing observational skills and solicit parent observations.

Assist children in development of social and self-help skills, and sound nutritional practices.

Guide children’s acquisition of social skills.

Attend staff training and meetings, and parent meetings as requested.

Assist in implementing children’s I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan) or seeking clarification for any aspects that are not well understood.

Assist in recruiting and orienting volunteers, providing them with guidance as needed.

Assist the teacher in the completion of required reports.

Complete timely and accurate time sheets.

Assist, as requested, in transition activities.

Distribute newsletters, flyers, and other information to families as instructed by the Director.

Professionalism:

When issues arise (behavioral, emotional, psychological, family crisis, community crisis, etc.) be active in addressing the issues with the Director in a supportive role.

Maintain a positive attitude and be open to feedback regarding the Conecta learning program on a daily basis.

Be punctual to job and diligent about fulfilling job responsibilities and other time-sensitive obligations.

Identify and regularly participate in professional development opportunities that promote self-efficacy and the development of one’s skill set.

Exhibit positivity about the School, Staff, Parents and Students.

Devote a reasonable amount of time to completing additional duties as assigned by the Director.

Agree to and abide by the expectations outlined in the Conecta Employee Handbook.

Minimum Qualifications:

6 completed semester units of early childhood education and enrolled in at least 2 semester units at a college, California permit lines of supervision: Hired by, reports to, and is supervised by the Director

Additional Requirements:

Successful experience working in a team setting.

Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community.

Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed.

Ability to lift up to 55 pounds required.

Manual dexterity sufficient to operate the telephone, itunes, and camera.

Must be able to travel, enter and exit a vehicle without assistance, and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

Tasks that involve possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.

Tasks that involve handling implements or utensils, use of public or shared bathroom facilities or telephones and personal contacts.

Possible exposure to communicable diseases.

This is a job that is a mixture of teaching, desk work, standing for long periods of time, and visits in the community.

Ability to successfully perform the job in this manner is required.
