Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityThe university’s IT Project Management Office (IT PMO) is seeking a highly experienced and ambitious IT Project Manager for a permanent opportunity. In this role your main focus will be to lead the successful delivery of technology and associated business change initiatives within the Digital Services portfolio. You will be picking up a range of projects at different life stages with users ranging across the university from academics to professional staff. You will manage laid-out project plans, manage risks as they arise, track milestones and report on the project progress to senior leaders.      Key accountabilities and attributes for this position include:Developing, managing and monitoring project plans and their overall progressFinancial acumen with managing budgets, forecasts, and time/resource managementThe drive and energy to lead from the front and take stakeholders and project teams on the journey to a successful outcomeCollaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that risks, issues, and blockers are managed effectively.A confident communicator, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with third party vendors and a wide range of internal stakeholdersChampioning the use and benefits of relevant agile/waterfall methodologies, ensuring a consistent and common approach is utilisedDeveloping vendor relationships and ensuring vendor deliveries are to agreed quality standardsYou will become a member of the well-established high-performing and collaborative team, where you will need to form quick partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the University's diverse and complex environment.For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description.Please note, this is a fulltime (37.5 hours/week) permanent position.  He kōrero mōu | About youTo be considered for this role, you will ideally hold a relevant industry related tertiary qualification and demonstrate significant project management experience of major and/or complex projects, including project related financial management and reporting. You will demonstrate a high-level ability to influence and communicate effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders. You will operate with energy and passion and will demonstrate a collaborative approach where they partner closely with peers, value the needs of others and model best practice principals and behaviours. Teamwork, customer focus and negotiation skills are vital to the role. Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the teamThe IT PMO sits in the Digital Strategy, Planning and Value (DSPV) group within Digital Services and is responsible for the management of technology project delivery across the University.DSVP is responsible for strategic IT leadership across the University, to develop the University IT Strategy, and to support actively the implementation of the strategy. This incorporates coordination of, and engagement with, the University community on strategic IT requirements, contributing to increasing the effectiveness of the IT function across the University, and to the integration of University IT Strategy with individual IT service and application strategies.As well as the IT PMO, the responsibilities of the group also include: planning and reporting, including the IT Annual Plan and Annual Report; support for technology governance at the University; Strategy development, IT KPI development and maintenance; Product Management; Business Relationship Management; IT Procurement, and Information Management Strategy.Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offerThe University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading university and maintains significant computational, laboratory and analytic facilities.
