Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The focus of this role is to lead the establishment and ongoing optimisation of the operational aspects of the Medtech-iQ Tāmaki Makaurau strategy.  You are responsible for establishing effective business operations, research management and development, professional research support services, and managing external and internal relationships.The Medtech-iQ Tāmaki Makaurau Directors and/or the project steering committee are the key customers and will provide direction to the Medtech-iQ Tāmaki Makaurau Operations Manager. The Operations Manager role is fully committed to Medtech-iQ Tāmaki Makaurau.This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) fixed term position for two years.

Remuneration $98,000 - $113,000 dependant on experience.For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description.Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the teamThis new centre is hosted at ABI, the heart of MedTech at the University.  ABI is successfully translating research into commercial application as new medical technologies, working closely with Auckland Uniservices, the professional technology transfer arm of the University. A number of early-stage University spin out companies are co-located onsite at the ‘Cloud9’ incubator. The operations team will collaborate closely with our host ABI, and other faculties/institutes/centres across the University and with external parties. The emphasis during this establishment phase is to build capability, scale existing activities, initiate new ways of working and critical partnerships to consolidate the University’s research in MedTech. In time, the operation will be re-located across the Grafton and Newmarket campus. This creates the conditions for a vibrant, physically connected hub providing cutting-edge MedTech innovation, incubator, and support services, with close proximity to Auckland hospital clinical collaborators, partners, and companies.He kōrero mōu | About youYou will be an adaptable manager who can cope with change and handle uncertainty whilst driving new innovative ways of working and creative solutions.  Experience in setting up a new business unit, department or operation will be valuable.  You are resilient, a strong communicator, and comfortable with both taking direction and working autonomously.  You are focused and able to define, set and achieve team goals. You will have comprehensive experience managing financials and business operationsYou will have a strong track record of programme managementYou will have a thorough understanding of funding or investment opportunitiesYou will have experience in leading a teamYou will be able to engage at all levels, including senior management, academia, government providers and community stakeholders. A good knowledge or experience of public involvement in strategic development and delivery will be valuable.
