We are seeking an enthusiastic person, passionate about simplifying and automating interactions between the systems in our diverse IT (Information Technology) environment to better enable research.You will enjoy problem-solving, have a strong grounding in full stack software development, and a good understanding of developing and using REST APIs, CI/CD and Agile methodology. You won’t have all the answers but with an open mind can work through uncertainties. You will contribute to and benefit from the team’s broad skill-base and be excited by the opportunity to work across multiple disciplines and in a variety of different capacities.Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

This unique opportunity supports the implementation of an open source machine-actionable Research Data Management platform (e.g ReDBox) and will involve co-designing a connected Research IT Ecosystem developing and implementing integrations that utilise latest best practice with well-documented, reusable, and scalable components. You may also be involved in the development front-end data management templates to enable a more intuitive experience for our researchers.Our ideal candidate will bring a strong background working on enterprise application integrations, cloud-based technologies and infrastructure as code solutions and the interpersonal skills needed to work in a friendly team environment (with a fondness for cake).Experience conducting research or working with researchers is a bonus.Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

The Research Data Management (RDM) Programme aims to uplift data management maturity capability at the University. Specifically, this involves three initiatives that will provide:  Secure research data and analysis environments with governance controls  An online machine-actionable Data Management Planning (DMP) solution A connected research ecosystem using persistent identifiers (PIDs).  These will enable researchers and the University to manage research data following best practices, including FAIR, CARE and Māori Data Sovereignty principles.  

This role is based within the Centre for eResearch, a research platform providing capability to the research community across the University of Auckland. Researchers’ needs are always changing, so the support CeR offers is constantly evolving to keep pace with emerging needs and opportunities. This role is a full time (37.5 hours per week) and is fixed-term to July 2024.
