POSITION SUMMAY

The Golf Course Mechanic effectively and safely maintains, troubleshoots & repairs all golf course equipment including golf car fleet. The primary function is to ensure that the corporate vehicles and equipment are mechanically secure and maintained preventively. This is a full time, year-round position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Keep a well-maintained digital inventory of high wear parts
  • Hydraulic diagnosis and repair
  • Electronic routing, diagnosis and repair
  • Small engine diagnosis and repair
  • Create of monthly budget to reflect average actuals
  • Estimate cost of materials and labor for routine maintenance and repairs
  • Equipment operation
  • Create a positive relationship will other departments
  • Keep record of faults, diagnose and repair issues

  • Maintain shop cleanliness, safety and organization
  • Be aware of and follow OSHA guidelines in regards to Vehicle Mechanic Shop Requirements
  • Reel repair and sharpening
  • Train staff in pre-operation checks
  • Fabrication tasks

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience: Experience working on small to medium equipment, knowledgeable about mechanics, electrical systems, welding, etc. must be well versed in trouble-shooting electrical- hydraulic systems, golf equipment operation.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of software on equipment
  • Knowledge of the game of golf is helpful
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed, including occasional overtime

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

May have to travel to other golf courses, industry trade shows or parts vendors (>5% of time)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • 40hrs/week and one day per summer season weekend

Office Environment:

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Golf Course Environment:

  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold,snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, lightning, etc
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for turf disease management, cleaning, de-greasing, andpainting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by golf course equipment, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
