Job Description
We’re looking for a Director, Corporate FP&A to join our high impact Finance team. In this highly visible role, you will lead our Corporate Planning & Reporting team to provide consolidated planning, forecasting, analysis, and financial reporting across all of Shopify. You will collaborate with members of our Merchant Services and Commercial Finance teams to understand the story behind the numbers, assess monthly and quarterly risks and opportunities, and improve forecasting across the business. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, critical thinker who understands different perspectives and translates insights into thoughtful solutions.

Projects you could work onOwning the overall corporate financial model, and monthly and quarterly forecasting
Developing actionable management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs, and overseeing variance analysis and operating reviews to track business success
Leading financial analysis, and the narrative for executive management, internal stakeholders, and the Board of Directors, including monthly and quarterly management reporting
Owning business planning with key leaders across the company, including preparation of annual investment plans and rolling 5-year long range plans
Overseeing projects and developing strategic analyses to assess new growth and investment opportunities, and evaluate business risks
Being a trusted advisor to Finance, Workforce Operations, and Talent business partners by championing novel analytics and insights
Partnering with Investor Relations in the preparation of quarterly earnings calls
Assisting with forward-thinking special projects, as required
Leading, coaching, recruiting and developing a high performing team, and teaching and mentoring more broadly across the organization
Qualifications
Relevant experience for the roleProven track record of driving significant impact by simplifying complex concepts and pulling together polished presentations for key decision makers
Deep expertise in financial modelling, strategic business analysis and planning, and value-added reporting
A growth mindset, a builder’s mentality, and a proven history of effective execution
The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous work environment, and to navigate through change
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Strong business partnering expertise
An excellent ability to mentor and teach
Experience with FP&A systems (preferably Adaptive)
Experience serving as a FP&A business partner to cross functional business partners (i.e. Accounting, Finance, Workforce Operations, Talent, and Legal)
Corporate FP&A experience in a high growth, public company
A professional finance or accounting designation, and significant experience in domains such as Corporate FP&A, Corporate Strategy, consulting or investment banking
Experience in tech or other SaaS-based business models
Experience creating investment business cases in a fast-growth business
Proven track record of leading a high performance Finance team
Significant project management experience a plus
