Job Description

The MBA Intern role will be a member of the NA Merchant US Travel Vertical team, which is responsible for developing and executing Visa’s travel industry merchant strategy. The team drives enterprise value for Visa’s US travel clients, including partners such as United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Marriott, Disney, Expedia, Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, Hyatt, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Avis, Enterprise, Amtrak etc. The Travel Vertical is responsible for account growth of US travel clients, travel industry strategic development, coordination and executive of key client strategic initiatives, market research and strategic intelligence, as well as operational management and business planning for the entire Merchant Travel Vertical team. The role could be located anywhere in the U.S.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Travel Business Planning, Operations & Enterprise Partnership Sales, this person will work closely with key stakeholders both internal and external to the team and manage key business planning and Sales Enablement responsibilities in addition to supporting strategic initiatives and operational needs of the NA Merchant Travel Vertical team, including the following:

Essential Duties

  • Support the Sales Enablement, business planning and performance measurement responsibilities for the NA Merchant U.S. Travel Vertical group, including:
    • Provide regular and ad hoc analytics and reporting support for travel client performance metrics, business development planning and strategic initiatives
    • Support sales / pipeline management reporting and MIS summaries, including executive updates, weekly / quarterly tracking and annual goal progress
    • Optimize and evolve in-house Salesforce Playbook management and coordination for the NA Merchant Travel team, aligning with the NA Merchant BPO team
    • Coordinate and manage queries across Visa Dashboards to plan for current and potential client initiatives
  • Building strong relationships with NA Merchant Travel AE leaders and influencing decisions at the senior level
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including, Product, Analytics, Marketing, B2B, CyberSource, Digital Partnerships, etc., to align on go-to-market strategy for Travel Vertical
  • Collaborating with global and regional merchant strategy and solutions teams to share travel client best practices, analyses, and leverage product and analytic resources to drive efficiency and scalable results.
  • Develop rigorous research, competitive intelligence/monitoring, and travel industry landscape analyses to support vertical strategies
  • Own travel vertical learning channels that are both internal (to include weekly newsletters and quarterly learning series) and external (client webinar series, third-party industry conferences, etc.)
  • Support NA Merchant Travel vertical strategies, business development, and key initiatives; help manage the day-to-day project and team activities to meet project goals and timelines
    • Understand travel client needs and industry trends, anticipate opportunities and challenges, collect and synthesize Account Executive feedback and recommend proactive measures to support accomplishing travel vertical targets
    • Support strategic framework and execution of key client and industry initiatives that influence internal decisions, and also directly support our clients
    • Support development of travel sub-vertical strategic planning and KPI overviews
  • Support content development for presentations / conferences / executive reviews / training documents; Communicate recommendations in a clear, concise and impactful way to senior level audience
  • Support NA Travel Account Executives on client-facing initiatives and opportunities, on an ad hoc basis
  • Coordinate NA MS&A and cross-functional Initiatives across NA Travel Account Portfolios

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled inan MBA program,graduatingby August 2023
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.
  • Ability to translate analytics, research, client/consumer needs into actionable plans and deliverables

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+years of business experience, with a strong track record of business planning, operations and / or strategy / product development and execution.
  • Knowledge of payment industry products, services and technologies, fintech, eCommerce, and mobile payments technology is strongly preferred.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Passionate about the travel sector and the how the industry is evolving with increased digitized solutions and next-gen technology
  • Experience organizing and managing complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in client-facing roles, having led senior client discussions and solutioning engagements with multiple key stakeholders, ideally including financial institutions (issuers or acquirers), large retailers/merchants, PSPs, technology providers, etc.
  • Strong track record of driving results, innovation and change in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with high level of success/ achievement
  • A willingness to challenge preconceived attitudes and behaviors and shape future thinking
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience working with databases / MIS, Salesforce and advanced presentation software (e.g. Prezi, Keynote, etc.)
