Senior HR Generalist (Leave Coordinator) 30 hours

Schedule: This newly created role will be added to our HR team of 6. The schedule is 30 hours a week, 5 days a week for 6 hours. We are open to allowing most of the work to be done remotely. There are times that you will need to come to the office to perform some work.

Location: Our office is in a professional building complex, Heritage Place, located in Lawrence, MA on the Andover/Lawrence border. We are immediately off of the 495 exit, or off of Rte 114. Plenty of free parking!

Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelors in Human Resources required.

PHR, and/or SHRM-CP is strongly preferred.

Extensive knowledge of the MA PAID Leave process and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.

Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA leave administration a plus.

7 years or more of experience managing Leaves is highly desirable

Outstanding communication, coaching and training skills

Ability to respond with a strong sense of urgency with high attention to detail

Super organized with ability to work independently without strong supervision

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and HRIS programs

Ability to work remotely, but come into the office if needed to obtain paper files from the file room.

Responsibilities:

Manage the entire FMLA function as the subject matter expert with the new Paid FML process

Provide training to new managers to the new MA PFML process

Process all claim information with our private company plan for PFML

Counsel’s employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.

Process letters and documentation to employees requesting basic FMLA that are outside of PFML and ensuring their eligibility.

Input related data into HRIS (Paychex) and our time keeping system (AOD) for tracking purposes, including COVID-19 requests.

Track FMLA intermittent time manually to ensure employees don’t exceed the limit.

Oversee the return-to-work process for employees returning from FMLA. Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.

Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.

Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.

Ensure compliance with all federal and state mandated leave related laws.

This role may also serve as back up for Benefits Coordinator with administering other types of leave and HRIS management including WC, LTD.

Perform other generalist responsibilities and project work.
