Brookford Farm farms 500 acres organically in the upper Merrimack River valley of NH. We produce 100% grass-fed beef and dairy, pasture-raised pork and poultry, and organic vegetables.
We grow our vegetables on 30 acres focusing on high quality, efficient production. Approximatly half our acres are commited to summer crops that we pick and sell throughout the warmer months. The other half of our production is focused on producing storage crops which we harvest in bulk and sell throughout the winter months. We have a solid team of people in the vegetable department who works year round and we hire a seasonal crew to help with the harvesting and hand weeding tasks which intensify in the summer months. The seasonal crew comes from a mix of socio-economic backrounds ranging from local high school kids to the many Congolese refugees which we hire for these tasks.
The Crew Leader on our farm will be given a prioritized list of tasks which need to be accomplished. He/She will be responsible for organizing the crew in an efficent manner to acomplish the tasks. He/She will need to gather the tools required for the job, organize trasportation, be sure to have water, gloves, and other supplies needed to spend hours out on the field. He/She will also be working side by side with the crew making sure standards are maintained, hygene is monitored and keeping pace in a fun and light hearted way.
The ideal candidate would enjoy working with people, have worked on a commercial farm for atleast one season, and be able to maintain quality and efficiency with a group of people. Speaking foreign languages is a plus but not a requirement. It would be important for this person to be open to trying to communicate with non english speaking folk.
This postion is full time, beginning in April and going through October. There will be many oppotunities for full time work to continue through the winter but the job description would change.
