The Infrastructure team is responsible for the design, implementation and support of IT Infrastructure across the Nine business. This includes cloud, virtualisation, servers, storage, backup, Active Directory, IDP , AWS, Google Workspace, O365, Azure,and operating system software.

The Infrastructure Operations Manager will operate as an SME in infrastructure operations leading a small team, managing an outsourced provider, managing our existing operational toolset, developing new ones as well as managing the operational performance of 3rd party support providers. Providing oversight to, and managing a team of infrastructure tech leads is key, as well as leading and developing existing and new capabilities

Day to day you will:

  • Provides a secure, compliant, robust, reliable, scalable and efficient infrastructure and direct infrastructure support strategy and operations
  • Manages the operation related to keeping the infrastructure performing optimally including backing up the systems, performance tuning, installing operating system upgrades and patches, implementing security and advanced AV protection
  • Improve, tune and expand all systems as growth demands. Ensures infrastructure installations go smoothly, as well as software and hardware upgrades.
  • Oversees the day-to-day support of all production platforms to ensure the high availability, integrity, and confidentiality of the servers, storage, etc
  • Lead a hybrid internal / outsourced Operations team and work closely with the System Architects
  • Responsible for operational metrics, and patch management across the infrastructure footprint
  • Lead technical incident response for major infrastructure incidents.
  • Engage with Senior Leaders across the broader Technology teams
  • Management of operational staff, escalation management, performance appraisals with support from Group Director, Enterprise and Infrastructure

Qualifications

In order to be successful for this role, you will ideally have:

  • 5+ years in an Infrastructure Operations Coordinator/Manager Role
  • People Management Experience
  • Experience with providing technical infrastructure across large enterprise
  • Experience in managing outsourced partners
  • The ability to think outside the square to problem solve
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Deeply analytical lateral thinker with the ability to make business decisions
  • Client service and management experience
  • Rolling out of automation tooling experience
  • Excellent english and communication skills with the ability to engage at both technical and management levels.

Not essential, but nice to have:

  • Experience managing change or transformational programs
  • Google Workspace
  • Leading Post Incident Reviews and risk prioritisation management
  • Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Management
  • Industry certification desirable
  • Strong Cyber Security awareness
  • Strong customer focus and attention to detail
  • Understanding of migrating workloads to cloud providers
