Job Description

Your new opportunity at Nine.

When it comes to connecting brands with the passions of Australians, there’s no other media company like Nine. Nine lives at the intersection of Australia’s best content, conversation and culture. We are a leading multi-platform media network, engaging an audience of 14 million users across news, business & finance, lifestyle, entertainment & sport.

The security practice spans a large cross-section of Nine technology, continuously looking for ways to reduce risk, while holistically considering existing patterns, ways of working and speed of delivery.

This is a rare, greenfield opportunity! You’ll play a major role in evolving the way hundreds of engineers think about, engage with, and implement security in their applications and Infrastructure.

As a Security Software Engineer, you will work alongside the Security Practice Lead. You will remain close to the code, building tools and assist with code reviews. You will help research and roll out new security focussed tooling and platforms that empower engineers with actionable feedback. You will influence and educate, leading to safer coding practices and more confident, capable engineers.

Your days will include:

  • Planning and developing security measures that improve the safety of data, apps andinfrastructure
  • Solving interesting engineering challenges, with a priority on long term solutions over short term patches
  • Participating in thorough code review and peer testing
  • Implementation of security tooling, and assisting with the triage of output
  • Working with internal and external security specialists
  • Providing security advice to other engineers, assisting in training and workshops

Qualifications

To secure an interview your application should demonstrate

  • Strong, proven engineering skills
  • Experience with implementation and operation of SAST and SCA tools
  • Familiar with Agile development
  • An eagerness to share knowledge
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • A self-starting attitude, with a desire to learn

Certifications (OSWE/OSCP/CISSP) are useful, but above all else, we really like working with people who have a strong, positive learning attitude.

So, if this role sounds good, but you feel you might need to catch up on some specific skills or certs, we'd still love for you to apply.

Skills can be learned, attitude is everything within the greater engineering team we have intentionally fostered a dynamic working environment and collaborative team culture. We support individual goals and personal growth through coaching, mentoring and ongoing training. As part of our commitment to inclusion we support flexible work schedules and locations.
