Job Description

The Quality Technician II is responsible for in-process and final analysis of products to ensure they conform to customer and company standards. The role also supports the site’s quality improvement and R&D efforts by partnering with internal teams on related projects. Work is performed in the quality lab and in the production area of the manufacturing facility. Work hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm. Starting pay based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Quality Inspection

  • ­Inspect in-process and final product to determine if material is within specification and meets or exceeds customer expectations, and document results of checks/tests as required
  • Prepare certifications of conformance and customer-specific final inspection forms, ensuring data accurately represents each production lot prior to releasing product
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications for multiple product lines
  • Set up and operate laminate printing equipment to print cards
  • Prepare and complete internal quality tests such as blocking test, coating weights, patch dimension, pitch measurements, optical density, etc. as required
  • Maintain representative samples of each manufacturing lot, along with accurate documentation and storage of retain logs, testing logs, inspection records and certifications of conformance
  • Assist manufacturing employees as needed to evaluate product conformance

2. Quality Improvement / R&D Support

  • ­Complete small patch mixes for specialty ink ensuring production has the required ink to meet customer demand
  • Develop and document production and quality related processes in compliance with ISO standards
  • Recommend improvements to the quality department and related processes, and support implementation of new processes
  • Partner with continuous improvement and production teams to investigate internal and customer related quality concerns.
  • Assist R&D and operations in process related tasks related to new product development.
  • Provide support and training to operators, Quality Technician I, and other team members as required.

3. Maintain a neat and orderly work area, and other general housekeeping and auditing duties.

4. Strictly adhere to safety regulations, security regulations and work policies.

5. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of experience in product quality required. Experience with product chemistry and ISO standards preferred.
  • Strong basic math (decimals and fractions), measurement ability (tape measure, ruler, caliber) and ability to interpret engineering drawings required.
  • Ideally possess experience with high performance vision and measuring systems such as Instron and Keyence systems.
  • Ideally possess understanding of root cause analysis and quality system tools such as 8D Root Cause Analysis, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Strong understanding and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Visio, Word), with ability to utilize Microsoft Excel to analyze in process data.
  • Work with minimal supervision
