Job Description

We are looking for a platform engineering leader capable of leading one to two diverse cross-functional teams to lead teams in our Engineering Ecosystem and Reliability & Infrastructure Engineering groups.

Platform Engineering Team Lead is a new role to the organisation to support our transformation towards an empowered team model to support an outcomes-centric approach to platform engineering that puts developer effectiveness at the heart of everything we do. To support the transformation, we are have opened the role with our value streams.

  • Test Automation Enablement: A team inour Engineering Ecosystem group aimed at helping product and platform engineering teams own, build and maintain their automated test suites giving them the confidence to release early and often
  • People. Mentor and grow great people and technical leaders within the stream and ensure individual contributors are mentored and grown to reach their full potential
  • Team. Nurture a safe and inclusive work environment where people have a voice, be their best self, and take pride in delivering software as a team
  • Delivery. Ensure the team is owns their commitment to delivery of product outcomes
  • Operations. Ensure teams support our platform services environment with the highest level of excellence while seeking an opportunity to eliminate toil and transition operations to product engineering teams
  • Strategy. In collaboration with Portfolio Architecture and engineering management, define Platform Product roadmap that meet the needs of Product Engineering teams (the customer)
  • Technical. Support architects to ensure technical and debt-recovery initiatives consider the measurable impact they would have on the business objectives
  • Practice. Drive continuous improvement within the team to adopt modern engineering practices to move quality left, enable continuous delivery, collaborative programming, test-driven design, elimination of toil, and emergent design

Qualifications

  • Talent. Able to build a highly effective team by attracting, developing, retaining contributors and, most importantly, leaders
  • Teams. Strong experience leading and building highly engaged enablement and platform teams, preferably in a SaaS environment
  • Delivery. Demonstrated experience leading multiple enablement and platform teams to deliver value continuously
  • Transformation. Experience in evolving culture and process towards better engagement, agility and DevOps
  • Technical. Able to support teams in balancing quality and debt recovery against product priorities
  • Agility. Experience in supporting teams to maximize the flow of work within and across team boundaries by eliminating waste, minimizing WIP, and incremental delivery of value
