Do it here.What you’ll be doingOur Global Supply Chain team is hiring a passionate and strategic Category Intelligence Data Scientist for Accessories Category, on a team that powers Category Intelligence for Verizon. The accessories portfolio brings in a growing 600M+ dollar annual revenue. It spans 12+ categories including cases, screen protectors, chargers, and more. Your work will be visible to mid- and high-level executives. This is a job for an intelligent, decisive, quick, and forward-thinking individual. In this individual contributor role, you will support cross-functional teams involved in the Accessories Category Intelligence process, who are responsible for steps to deliver the best value to Verizon’s customers. The Category Intelligence Data Scientist will be responsible for supporting each process milestone with data driven analyses, including defining baselines, measuring trends, analyzing information, identifying strategic options anddeveloping partnerships in addition to supporting negotiations. Lead analyses supporting the following Accessories Category Intelligence process, as outlined below.

Define baselines. Gather complex data sets from multiple sources to communicate and visualize the Accessories category baseline.

Measure trends. Synthesize internal and external information to measure where the category is headed; what products are coming in, and what is going out.

Analyze information. Build new insights on top of baseline and trend information available. Support, drive and advance the analytics strategy and modeling approaches for Demand Transfer in the category. Model demand transfer scenarios to increase revenue and margin.

Identify options. Produce data driven stories that recommend options to the Accessories category stakeholders including but not limited to cost, sustainability, and risk.

Develop strategies. Implement feedback from Accessories category stakeholders to form clear strategies that support the shared goals, and improves the company’s competitive position in terms of revenue and margin.

Develop partnerships. Partner with Category Intelligence Manager to enhance relationships with highly valued suppliers to achieve win-win outcomes.

Throughout every milestone, prepare data driven visualizations in directional business intelligence tools to ignite meaningful action.

What we’re looking forYou’ll need to have: This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or four or more years of work experience.

Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Experience with data of all types (e.g., spend, contract, and/or product data).

Experience in applying modeling techniques and methods to data sets to answer business problems.

Experience with tools to analyze data (e.g., R, Alteryx, Tableau, and/or Qlik).

Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

Master’s degree.

Consulting experience.

Experience using Python.

Experience in Databases like Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle.

Experience leading a category intelligence process.

Product manager experience with Accessories such as Cases and Screen Protectors.

Ability to dive deep into complex problems, and surface with easy to understand stories.

Demonstrated successful ability to interact with internal and external audiences.

Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
