WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Associate, ABS/Securitization Lending Risk Management will provide detailed credit analysis of new securitization positions and assist in the risk monitoring of the securitization portfolio.As a representative of the second line of defense, the candidate will be responsible for the review and challenge of securitization related credit proposals and for validating risk ratings proposed by the first line of defense. Candidates should be able make risk recommendations leveraging their experience evaluating ABS/securitization positions. Previous experience evaluating ABS/securitization positions is required and background analyzing a diverse set of ABS sectors such as auto loan/lease, dealer floorplan, equipment lease, and credit card is preferred.Additionally, she/he will work with the underwriting and portfolio monitoring team to monitor and track the existing portfolio performance by assessing its ongoing creditworthiness, reviewing the deals' compliance with the existing contractual terms and conditions included in all legal documentation, and identifying emerging credit risks.She/he will work to maintain and enhance strong internal controls for the product and will also work closely with the Head of Securitization Lending Risk to enhance/expand modeling capabilities.The candidate will be part of the wider Structured Finance Credit Risk Group, which is responsible for Santander's Corporate & Investment Banking lending activities in the US for the following asset classes: Project Finance, Fund Finance, Securitization Lending, and Commercial Real Estate. Experience in these asset classes aside from ABS/securitization would add additional value. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects outside of their core responsibility to meet the needs of the overall Structured Finance business providing relevant growth opportunities.Responsibilities:The role's duties and responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
  • Review of the credit proposals for new Securitization positions.
  • Monitors Securitization positions and portfolio for compliance with credit policy and underwriting standards.
  • Participate in the production, review, and presentation of the documentation needed to be presented to relevant risk approval committees.
  • Periodically review, update, and expand credit risk standards.
  • Utilize background in ABS/securitizations to develop and enhance portfolio limits and guidelines, risk rating models etc.
  • Ensure underwriting and monitoring complies with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Responsible for special risk mitigation projects and/or programs, business continuity and other incident response and security related activities supporting risk colleagues.
  • Ensure consistent quality control, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements for reporting processes.

  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in ABS / Securitization related risk management positions.
  • Previous experience collaborating with risk colleagues, working with securitization product specialists, presenting to senior management, etc.

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking.
