Senior IT Systems EngineerFull TimeCarteret, NJ (Onsite) Reporting to the Director, IT Infrastructure and Support, the Sr. IT Systems Engineer will be a key technical resource in modernization of existing network and systems infrastructure. You will bring us in line with best industry and security practices, and implement new systems leveraging the cloud where possible. You will also coordinate major issue resolution with external and internal partners and, as needed, will assist the Help Desk team with ongoing support issues and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drives the technical review and modernization of existing IT infrastructure based on best industry practices. Leverages cloud, develops documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and provides additional enhancement recommendations.
  • Reviews, documents and enhances existing Firewall and Internet Service Provider (ISP) set up. On ongoing basis, coordinates with MSPs/vendors all matters related to day-to-day operations, monitoring, escalations, SLA and other reporting.
  • Maintains and monitors Servers, Firewall and Network equipment based on best industry and security practices. Owns all related designs and documentation including, but not limited to process schedules, network, structured cabling, and server rack diagrams.
  • Documents and monitors the servers and data backups, and looks for ways to enhance existing processes. Assists IT Leadership with Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity planning and implementation.
  • Migrates two-factor authentication to a different service.
  • Documents administration and support processes and turns over them to the Help Desk/support team for day-to-day support.
  • Drives the implementation of a next generation VOIP phone system.
  • Enhances our infrastructure monitoring capabilities.
  • Assists our MSP partner with annual Cyber Security Vulnerability Assessments and PEN testing. Owns remediation of the findings.
  • Serves as Technical Lead for high severity infrastructure incidents. Coordinates timely resolution with Help Desk, Managed Service Providers, and internal IT staff. Provides timely updates to management and business. Facilitates Root Cause Analysis (RCA) review.
  • Leads technical aspect of annual Technology Roadmap review with IT team, vendors and Managed Service Providers. Recommends upgrade path and timing. Documents technical requirements and recommendations, provides high-level cost and effort estimates.
  • Serves as technical Lead for cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure projects within the constraints of quality, scope, schedule, and budget. Ensures that all project deliverables are completed according to plan. Develops detailed status reports and summarized executive updates. Alerts IT management to project issues such as cost, schedule, or scope changes. Develops good working relationships with internal business partners and IT staff, with Managed Service Providers and vendors.
  • Assists IT management in ROI analysis and business case studies for project approval.
  • Provides User Training for new processes and systems.
  • Assists Help Desk/support team as needed with PC, printing issues, and other support requests for main facility and remote users.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ yrs. IT experience.
  • 5+ yrs. VMWare administration and support experience i.e., datastores, switching, vSan, host maintenance, etc.
  • Knowledge of hyperconverged platforms.
  • 5+ yrs. Backups and Disaster Recovery experience.
  • 10+ yrs. Windows and Linux Server administration experience.
  • 10+ yrs. administration and support experience for Network, Firewall, DNS, LAN, WAN, VPN, VLANs, DHCP, PowerShell, Active Directory, and Group Policies.
  • 3+ yrs. of implementation, administration, and support for Azure Cloud Infrastructure. Additional experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and/or a Private Cloud is a plus.
  • MS Office 365 implementation and integration experience.
  • Implementation and support experience for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (SaaS),
  • Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
  • 3+ yrs. of administration and support for VOIP systems.
  • 3+ yrs. Help Desk and End User Support experience.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • System and Network Administration certification(s).
  • Azure Cloud certification(s).
  • ITIL certification desired, but not required.
