Produces and analyzes ultrasound images used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for entering the patient s demographics in the ultrasound reporting system. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.Essential Functions:Ability to do mathematical calculations and use instrument controls.

Assists in minor surgical procedures.

Interacts between ultrasound and tissue and the probability of biological effects in clinical examination to provide accurate information to patients, physicians and other health care providers.

Maintains adequate stock levels.

Must have knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy including physiology, pathology and pathphysiology.

Operates all equipment in practice with competence.

Provides attention to detail, safe work practices and thorough accurate documentation.

Provides basic patient care and comfort.

Provides ongoing daily calibration and preventive maintenance on required equipment.

Under the supervision of physician is responsible for entering measurements in the reporting system, print reports, and file and fax as required to referring physicians.

Understands and institutes clinical policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:Graduate of an approved school of Ultrasound. One to two years experience Ultrasound experience.

RDMS Certification.

Ultrasound Tech should be certified, cardiology and vascular experience, preferred.

Knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy. Knowledge of physiology, pathology and path physiology.

Working knowledge of GE & Philips equipment, ICAL protocols.

Proficient in the use of various types of ultrasound equipment including Duplex Dopplers, Matrix Imaging, color cameras, automatic film processing units, computers, and ultrasound machines.
