SUMMARY:The Quality Control Chemist ensures best quality of product is driven and executed for release.This person must be able to multi-task and have a passion for quality safety, efficiency and above all, a can-doattitude with an eye for fostering teamwork.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Perform consistent and accurate results for chemical analysis, making disposition decisions toapprove or reject each chemical and batch2. Generate and record all test data with accuracy and in-conformance with, specifications and acceptedtest methods3. Perform various Quality Control analytical tests and chemical analysis of raw materials, bulk, andfinished products, using lab instruments such as: Raman Spectroscopy, Viscometers, pH meter,Densitometers, Water Activity, and Melting Point4. Conduct all aspects of visual and olfactory evaluations on raw materials, bulk, and finished product5. Critically evaluate in-process bulk batches vs. specifications and perform lab adjustments needed toachieve specification.6. Write and issue manufacturing instructions for in-process adjustments to be made on full scale7. Develop and issue Certificate of Analysis (COA) for raw materials, bulk, and finished product withaccurate and complete lab notebook8. Perform calibration and verification of laboratory instrumentation9. Investigate Out of Specification issues and write OOS/Investigation reports10. Write and revise proper and thorough Standard Operation Procedure’s (SOP’s).11. Promptly communicate with manufacturing issues released to in-process batching12. Properly Maintain all bulk and raw material standards and retains13. Able to support off-shift and weekend lab activities to meet the needs of manufacturing14. Must be able to work in a team environment to support all Quality Control activities15. Maintain good Laboratory practices16. Provide Technical support.17. Must become familiar with the rules and safety programs applicable, follow prescribed health andsafety policies and procedures and participate in the progress of identifying, reporting and assisting ineliminating risks to health and safety in the workplace.18. Must be able to work overtime or weekends, on short notice as required.19. Performs additional assignments and responsibilities as determined by Department ManagementQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science, BS in Chemistry or a related field with minimum 3-5 year experience workingin a Quality Control Laboratory Proficiency in Computer skills and Microsoft Office Software Strict adherence to cGMP and GLP regulations Excellent organizational skills, time management, bias for action and decision-making, analytical andcritical thinking, root cause analysis, and effective communication skills Building and maintaining relationships and interactions with Manufacturing and R&D Experience with personal care products and manufacturing processes is a plus Analytical ability to assess test results Care-taking skills to maintain a clean and safe laboratory area Verbal communication skills Good judgment and problem solving skills is necessary when dealing with test result that requiremodifications/resolvingCOMPETENCIES: AnalyticalSynthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuitionand experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures.
