Location: Ewing, NJ

Position Type: Contract

Job Responsibilities:

  • Service to the Product Owner Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood as well as possible by everyone on the Scrum Team
  • Sharing techniques for effective Product Backlog management
  • Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items
  • Understanding product planning in an empirical environment
  • Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
  • Understanding and practicing agility and facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed Service to the Development Team
  • Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross functionality
  • Helping the Development Team to create high value products
  • Removing impediments to the Development Team's progress
  • Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed
  • Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood Service to the Organization
  • Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption
  • Planning Scrum implementations within the organization
  • Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development
  • Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team
  • Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job action.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Understands Scrum-of-Scrum and can lead discussions to ensure various scrum teams working on the project are in alignment.
  • Ensures that all team members support the Scrum process
  • Manages impediments that exceed the self-organizing capabilities of the team and prevents
  • them from achieving the Sprint Goal
  • Recognizes healthy team conflict and promotes constructive disagreement
  • Is prepared to be disruptive enough to enforce a change within the organization
  • Understands the power of a self-organization and how to encourage it
  • Understands the value of a steady sprint cadence and works to create and maintain it
  • Knows how to truly listen and is comfortable with silence
  • Understands the art of coaching and has learned some powerful questions by heart
  • Teaches the Product Owner how to maximize ROI and meet objectives
  • Is also competent with Scrumban, XP, Kanban, Lean, and other Agile frameworks

Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses:

  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification (Intermediate or Advanced levels preferred)
  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience) in related fields such as: Business Administration, Finance, Product Management or other areas combined with relevant work experience

Relevant Years of Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in a delivery lead, agile coach, scrum master, or similar role
  • Experience using Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence) or similar applications
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and steer towards successful project outcomes
  • Experience in Agile methods and techniques
  • Experience with SAFe is a plus
  • Experience in a combination of financial industry, product management, business management, and/or management consulting is a plus
