We are looking for a Developer Engineer to join the technology team to design and execute the company's modern software development strategy. You will work with our team of talented engineers to design and build applications in the FinTech ecosystem (Wealth Management / Life Insurance / Asset Management) in a hybrid environment encompassing on-prem solutions and cloud hosted applications and platforms. You will be responsible for the development, configuration, enhancement and support of applications in various areas of our business using modern programming languages. You will be involved in the design and deployment of secure, well-tested, scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems. You will also be involved in the evaluation of key attributes of existing application architectures, evolution and enhancements to the infrastructure, product ideation and technology stack selection and in the definition of future state application architectures and strategies .

The individual should have 7+ years of hands-on application development experience developing and supporting a range of front-end and back-end technologies and stacks with good experience in designing, developing and operationalizing cloud-native applications using Agile and DevSecOps methodologies and frameworks.

Job Requirements
  • Write clean, well-tested & secure code; exhibit ownership from requirements to development
  • Deeply understand existing architecture on the back end as well as the front-end side to be able to enhance and improve architecture going forward with a key focus on scalability and quality
  • Sharp focus on gaining an in-depth understanding of the requirements around user experience to be able to deliver high quality, cross-platform optimized and responsive web front-end experience
  • Strong focus on creating and maintaining project documents and artifacts to capture current state
  • Focus on getting the required depth of functional expertise to be able to effectively suggest solutions to business problems/requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with designers, engineers, product management and business stakeholders to deliver & enhance new/existing capabilities
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies as needed and apply them to business solutions. Stay abreast of new/upcoming technologies in the market
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail orientation with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proactive ownership, troubleshooting & resolution of issues as they arise
  • Challenge the status quo and propose newer and better ways of doing things
  • Ensure compliance with NYL security standards

Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with web application development using Java, REST-ful APIs creation using Spring Boot or Node ( for Java-based tech stack ) or Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 3.5/4.0 ( for Microsoft-based tech stack )
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as C#, Java, Python, Ruby, and PHP
  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, JQuery, and JavaScript
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React, React with Redux
  • Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) service (e.g., development of business services, business components and customizations)
  • Experience with enterprise workflow platform that manages content, processes and cases
  • Strong hands-on experience and extensive development experience with data tools, i.e., SQL, Python, and database systems (MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or equivalent)
  • Familiarity of MERN or MEAN stack
  • Experience with relevant code repository and project tools such as Team Foundation Server, Git, JIRA
  • Ability to integrate APIs, write unit test cases, perform Unit Testing (UT) and System Integration testing (SIT)
  • Experience with developing Cloud-native application and very good understanding of Cloud architecture and best practices
  • Working experience with or understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment
  • Understanding of existing and emerging web standards such as HTML5 and Mobile
  • Understanding of and experience in developing solutions using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) tenets
  • Demonstrated ability with Application Architecture, best practices and systems engineering industry trends
  • Solid understanding of Agile application development methodologies and release management activities

Education
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or another related technical field but not required
  • Candidates who have completed full stack development/coding bootcamps or equivalent industry recognized certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer or Solutions architect) will also be considered in lieu of a technical undergraduate degree
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field or any other higher degree preferred, but not mandatory
