Why You'll Love This Job: Being a member of the Network Engineering Delivery Team the Director Platform Engineering will lead and be responsible for setting technical direction, managing the team composition to support that direction, prioritizing associated work based on business requirements, and supporting a growing user community in a fast-paced environment. Manages multiple projects, professional and technical staff, and other related activities including the research and monitoring of technological trends and directions, and the analysis of the organizations use of IT to identify technological opportunities to support corporate and client areas short and long range plans and objectives. Directs or conducts research projects to identify and evaluate emerging technologies and develops plans and strategies to introduce new technology which will provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Assigns personnel to the various projects and directs activities. Reviews, evaluates and prepares periodic performance reports of the staff. Prepares activity and progress reports on activities of section. Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct and ensure smooth workflow within the Team by staying informed and in touch with key elements of the organization beyond their Team and communicating key messages and updates in a timely manner.
- Maintain constructive relationships within and outside the Network Engineering Delivery team.
- Promote the professional development of the staff.
- Manage the Demand Management process by assisting in developing and maintaining future demand projections (i.e., 6-12 months) to identify future staffing requirements and scheduling start and completion dates based on agreed scope of work.
- Ensure on-time delivery of work, including monitoring of external and internal dependencies, tracking of progress, and monitoring of project milestone accomplishments.
- Oversee the technical quality of the projects by ensuring that key technical procedures, standards, quality control mechanisms, and tools are properly utilized including performing root cause analyses for technical problems and engaging in work product quality review.
- Actively participate in the Change Control process by identifying potential scope variances by monitoring work requirements definition, issue resolution, development progress and user sign-off and reviewing change requests.
- Forecast annual budget requests then manage teamwork based on approved budgets.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience with a strong Network and Datacenter Operations background. Additionally, leading IT projects and programs (4+ years of experience leading complex IT-centric projects with enterprise infrastructure components) and strong Cisco routing and switching background along with a strong Security practices background.
- Requires a highly skilled, project oriented individual capable of managing multiple complex assignments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build strong business partnerships.
- High degree of knowledge with Network Operating Systems and Networking technologies utilizing Packet/Message/Circuit switching, wireless technologies.
- Highly proficient in network engineering and implementation. Competency in WAN/LAN networking technologies; routed network infrastructures and protocols; legacy system protocol's; and LAN network and DNS architectures.
- Competency in security methodologies; firewalls, access control lists, encryption and public key infrastructure.
- Understanding of WEB technology & implementation, and relational database systems.
- Experience on Vblock and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure technologies.
- Competency in LAN acceleration devices, such as Riverbed.
- Possesses an understanding of application development & maintenance, software testing, and IT architecture.
- Possesses an understanding of mainframe and distributed technologies as they relate to providing technical solutions to application and business requirements
- Demonstrates expertise in business requirements development, program management, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and communication
- Drives corrective actions to mitigate project risks
- Understanding of emerging technologies such as SDN and SDWAN.
