Job Description
The Software Engineer works as a team member within FAST’s Product Development supporting newfeature development, migrating existing features, and creating other mobile and web solutions forcustomers. The Software Engineer has a primary focus on frontend development using Javascript, React;however; they may be asked on occasion to jump into backend code. Research and analysis skills areoften used to accomplish and complete tasks. The Software Engineer operates under general supervisionwith latitude for independent judgement and may be called upon to mentor less-experienced teammembers.Essential Duties and Responsibilitieso Develop front-ends for our web applications in React in support of the Company’s offerings, FASTInsurance Components - craft responsive experiences using Reacto Develop event-driven high-performant logic to interface with various API’so Provide critical software development in support of the Company’s most recent e-App and webdevelopment efforts, including supporting pre-sales and demo effortso Collaborate with product management, designers, and back-end developers to deliver highquality features for potential and existing customerso Collaborate with FAST peers assist in the development of next generation user interfaces for bothmobile and web interfaces most often utilizing JavaScript technologieso Participate in the design and development of componentized software leveraging SOA designprincipleso Develop expertise in technical areas: FAST Application Architecture, Hosting infrastructure,Configuration Tools, Integration Architecture and other technical areas Leverage FAST’s analytical tools and big data technologies to collaborate and solutioncomplex business problemso Liaison between customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely andsuccessful delivery of our solutions according to customer needso Oversee and mentor a team of developers who implement these designs ensuring changesconform to FAST best practiceso Support the deployment of FAST’s Insurance components as a SaaS offering using AWS serviceso Participate with FAST and customer teams in an Agile, collaborative team environmento Develop customer facing skills through a rapid succession of customer engagements
Qualifications
Essential Education and Work Experience A domain expert in: Javascript in particular React.JSo 3-5 years of front-end or full-stack development experience with a minimum of 2 yearsof React experience.o Prior experience with web and mobile UI development using a javascript framework (React, ExtJS)o Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and maintainable JavaScripto Expertise in building secure, scalable web services. Doing so in JAVA, a pluso Demonstrated understanding of Agile software development, Unit testing, DevOps practices, andcan work closely with other teams to optimize your codeo Experience with relational data design and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostGreSQL)o Good understanding of test-driven development and automated testing using NUnit or similarframeworkso Understanding of source code version control systemso Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering. MS degree a plus.Specialized Knowledge and SkillsThe Software Engineer must be intellectually curious, and demonstrate strong interpersonal,presentation, and critical thinking skills. Highly developed programming essential.Work Environment and Physical Demandso General office environmento Ability to travel a plus (when appropriate)o Average 45-hour work-week, more as needed
