The Service Automation Manger will be responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers in the identification, design and delivery of Service Automation solutions that will result in a consistent and industry leading client experience. In order to achieve this objective, the person in this role will need to have a strong technical background and hands on experience in a variety of Service Automation technologies such as NLP, OCR, ML and AI and how these technologies can be used in an orchestrated manner to create a technical pipeline that will significantly reduce manual touch points.

Success will result in a portfolio of solutions that are highly efficient, consistent, accurate and scalable. Given dynamic nature of the business and the variety in the input channels, solutions must be flexible and able to adapt to changing business needs. This will require the person in this role to have a string architecture background and to be able to lead others to design and think in a modular and innovative fashion. Having strong leadership skills and being able to paint and communicate the vision for the solutions being developed will be key skills of the person in this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify opportunities to utilize innovative technical solutions to design, develop and deliver service automation solutions.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and delivery of successful large-scale, critical and/or difficult software efforts involving significant work (can be new software or a refactor of existing software). Heavily influence the development and write a significant portion of the critical-path code.
  • Recognize trends for larger-scale development needs within and across teams and builds plans to develop skills. Share talent development best practices across organization
  • Think in terms of architecture, not just code. Have detailed knowledge of the work done by your team and proactively work to improve consistency and integration between your software and related software.
  • Develop and communicate department vision that supports the broader organizational vision; ensure team culture consistently demonstrates alignment with leadership principles; and visibly ties department decisions to leadership principles and tenets
  • Teach others how to set high organizational performance standards, determine performance measures and goals and establish a leadership bar.
  • Influence your teams technical and business strategy by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approach. You take the lead in identifying and solving ambiguous problems, architecture deficiencies, or areas where your teams software bottlenecks the innovation of other teams. Make software simpler.
  • Able to communicate your ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for your team and customer. Harmonize discordant views and lead the resolution of contentious issues (build consensus).
  • Lead design reviews for your team and actively participate in design reviews of related software or other team software at your location.
  • Code, development and implementation decisions set a great example to others. Provide insightful code reviews and take ownership of outcome. (You ship it, you own it.) Work very efficiently and routinely deliver the right things.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in being the technical leader for innovative, mission critical software programs.
  • Significant experience building complex business and/or transactional models with a high degree of focus on process optimization.
  • Hands on technical experience in developing NLP or OCR solutions that supported highly variable input channels at high volumes
  • Experience in leveraging Machine Learning or AI techniques to extract information for client queries and documents such that this information can be used to resolve queries without human intervention.
  • Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
  • First-class leadership and influencing skills, including experience managing a Tech Team
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and talent management skills, including the ability to identify and develop product management talent.
Education:
  • Bachelors/University degree, Masters degree preferred
