Job Description:

A key member of the data steward team responsible for analyzing data quality on behalf of the Market Risk function to ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk exposures and portfolio risk measures to senior management and the regulators. This will require an understanding of financial products and the inputs required in the calculation of trade measures as well as an appreciation of the F2B data transport and infrastructure. The role involves working closely with both risk managers and technology to remediate data issues and identify opportunities for process and control improvement. It requires a strong control mindset and a willingness to challenge and improve the control framework in line with the enterprise policies and standards that govern data management. There will be opportunities to influence and design target state controls and to work closely with technology on their implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities and suggest solutions to improve data quality and business processes
  • Participate in simplifying and improving market risk adherence efforts to regulatory policies, risk data aggregation standards, and enterprise-mandated standards
  • Improve data quality diagnostics, investigate possible data errors and remediate poor data
  • Research new data requirements and closely work with Risk Managers and technology to identify solutions
  • Work with technology on strategic initiatives and sourcing projects and participate in User Acceptance Testing and impact analyses
  • Analyze and confirm metrics / controls / threshold are effective with LOB Risk Executives and sufficient for compliance

Enterprise Role Overview:

May manage or supervise a small group. Proactively monitor and remediate incoming data used in risk measurement and reporting. Ensure the completeness, validity, and accuracy of data on a daily basis. Work with business data users to define the use of data within risk systems. Work closely with technology to ensure the timely and accurate operation of risk models and reporting systems. Implement effective risk controls of our data processes and systems. Participate in user acceptance testing of data control processes. Work with other groups as needed, including Middle Office, Sales and Trading, Technology, Compliance, Operational Risk, and Enterprise Capital Management to ensure effective controls over data for GMRM.

Required Skills: ( Must have these skills to be minimally qualified)
  • Knowledge of financial products, risk and / or P&L gained in market risk management, product control or similar role
  • Evidence of an interest in data and data analysis
  • Excellent communication & analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment and across different geographical locations
  • Ability to liaise with all levels of the firm and people with different experiences and backgrounds

Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of Global Markets processes and systems from trade capture through to risk / P&L reporting
  • Advanced Excel/VBA skills
  • SQL and python skills to build and maintain tools to simplify and improve processes, and eliminate manual / repetitive tasks
