Typically provides technical assistance and education to other staff. May assist with data maintenance and entry as needed. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Creates and maintains analytical tools/databases to track business performance.

Acts as the department subject matter expert and works with team on functionality of reporting tools to develop and identify ways to use existing tools more efficiently and improve workflows.

Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.

Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.

Creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports.

May require taking business issues and devising the best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.

May make business recommendations based upon data analysis.

Train and educate staff on functionality of existing reporting tools as needed.

Recommend software applications for department use and explore automation of repetitive functions to increase efficiency.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to:

Identifying and educating staff on functionality of existing presentation tools to enhance/support department meetings

Work with developers for SQL reports in document management system (DMS) and inquiry tool to identify trends and better ways to track and use the data; suggest modifications and improvements to system related to data use and accuracy. Oversee impacts of changes to system features and data entry for all users.

Data collection and entry as needed.

Support Ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:Requires a BS/BA degree in related field; 3-5 years data analysis or related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background to support the use of technology to efficiently do the job such as operational and/or data analysis experience; experience in database structures, and standard query and reporting tools.

Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is required.

Preferred Qualifications:Ability to manipulate large sets of data, strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills is strongly preferred.

Ability to develop and modify SQL queries and work with data warehouse preferred.

This job requires a task oriented – results driven individual with a strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to independently focus and manage multiple complex and technical tasks in a fluid environment.

Must be willing to do repetitive tasks and processes and show ongoing drive for results with a sense of urgency. May be required to assist with quarterly testing after the usual business hours.

Willingness to travel when needed.

This job is focused on technical expertise with varied programs and data analysis related to complex and varied metrics, as well as making recommendations and providing technical advice and assistance to staff as compared to other roles in OMPTA.
