The Newark Beth Israel Medical Center management and staff abide by the philosophy that all patients are to be treated with respect, dignity, and sensitivity.The Corporal will supervise and monitor the overall daily operation of their assigned shift. Will monitor and provide protection and security for the Medical Center s building, premises, assets, associates, visitors and customers. Coordinates and monitors traffic and parking conditions.Responsibilities:Coordinates orientation/training of departmental personnel. Inspect work performance and compliance to all rules, regulations and policies/procedures of staff members
Consult with management and keep them informed of activities, needs and problems
Assure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
Prepare and review for approval, incident reports and other documentation pertaining to security and Medical Center related matters
Collaborate with Law Enforcement personnel
Assure care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies
Supervise, schedule and monitor security activities on assigned shift to ensure secure and safe conditions for associates, patients, visitors and all customers
Assist in investigations
Maintain and enforce confidentiality of the Medical Center s and patient information
Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED
One (1) year customer service or security experience or prior law enforcement, military service strongly preferred
Valid New Jersey Driver s License (eligible to be covered by RWJBH insurance carrier)
Keyboarding/data entry skills; experience with Microsoft Office
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. verbal, written)
Bilingual (dependent upon facility) strongly preferred
Handle with Care (Best) course completion within sixty (60) days from date of hire
Candidates who do not possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent will be provided the opportunity to enroll in a GED/HSEA program at the time of hire as a condition of employment.
