ABOUT THIS ROLEThis opportunity is for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) of Software Development to join the Customer Experience Program to help facilitate and drive the successful delivery on multiple platforms for our Customers. These teams create and power Audible's Applications on various platforms, including but not limited to Android, iOS, Web, Amazon Devices (e.g. Fire, Kindle, eReader, Alexa). In this role, you will partner with Business, Product and Technology Leaders and teams to coordinate across the Audible organization to raise the bar and deliver value for our customers. You will use your sharp focus on efficient and timely communication, proactive coordination, infatuation with technology, a strong desire to learn and a passion for removing inefficiencies and miscommunications.

This role will be temporarily remote until our return to office date, at which time we will begin our hybrid model, Hub+Home. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will
  • Work closely with stakeholders and product managers to ensure that requirements are translated to the technology requirements that subsequently drive the execution (plan, coordinate, manage) of software development from design through successful deployment.
  • Work with cross functional teams - technology, business, marketing and operations to manage multiple projects that have conflicting needs / priorities, using an Agile development framework, from concept to launch.
  • Communicate project risks, progress, launches and retrospectives across all stakeholders and teams - consistently and transparently.
  • Strive constantly to improve and establish a new bar in performance (using objective metrics) in project execution.
  • Play a leading role in managing the delivery of large cross functional projects spanning teams and divisions in Audible as well as Amazon.
  • Collaborate to define core business objectives in order to deliver the best product, program or project with the most efficient use of company resources.
  • Work with cross functional teams - technology, business and operations to manage multiple projects that have conflicting needs and priorities from concept to launch.
  • Collaborate to define the technical architecture of solutions for services and support technical implementation and integration efforts.
  • Communicate project risks, progress, launches and retrospectives across all stakeholders and teams - consistently and transparently.
  • Strive constantly to improve and establish a new bar in performance (using objective metrics) in project execution.
  • Build relationships with partner groups in Audible and Amazon and leverage those relationships to integrate your team's priorities within Amazon teams and understand how Amazon's projects impact our own work in this highly decentralized organization.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 7+ years experience of software development and deployment of distributed multi-tier applications.
  • 2+ years experience managing agile software projects.
  • 2+ years of previous release and/or project management experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced knowledge of software development life-cycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills; able to effectively organize & communicate with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles.
  • Ability to navigate an ambiguous environment in which change is the only constant.
  • Detail oriented to ensure that project success is paramount.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to diplomatically disagree and align when dealing with different stakeholders.
  • Delivery-oriented and with a bias for our customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate across multiple groups and locales, with strong, clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in using collaboration and work management tools such as JIRA/Confluence or comparable wiki/collaboration tools.
  • Demonstrated customer obsession and excellent expectation-management abilities.
  • Ability to diplomatically disagree and align when dealing with different stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in building distributed systems.
  • Prior experience in delivering web based systems using Java/J2EE, node.js, Javascript, and microservices.
  • Experience building for mobile devices.
  • Adept at usage of various project tools such as JIRA, Rally, and Microsoft Project.
  • Masters degree.
