A unique opportunity for a highly experienced & skilled head cook / kitchen manager to lead our food program and be a key part of our leadership team at our busy café in downtown Jersey City. We are looking for someone with previous kitchen manager experience at a busy cafe / restaurant. The successful candidate will be an outstanding cook , be people focused, team oriented, customer focused , hold high standards , lead by example and be a highly effective communicator.

Responsibilities

Lead the kitchen / food program at Maggie's Farm Espresso by continually elevating the quality

Set the standards and quality and consistency of our food program

Consistently perform and produce excellent quality food efficiently including great presentation

Demonstrate passion for personalized customer service and developing strong relationships with customers & staff

Be a key part of our existing management team and be responsible for the kitchen function

Attend weekly management calls on overall café performance and provide updates on the kitchen function

Train new cooks

Maintain a safe clean working environment compliant with dept. of health

Opportunity to enhance food program, work with vendors, change food menu to enhance overall program and experience

Tasks such as setup, cleanup and breakdown

Manage inventory and replenishment, prep area, tools and equipment

Be able to be a team player and help out as cashier or running food or doing dishes as needed

Requirements

Team Player, positive attitude, ability to make great food but also serve customers, clean up & assist all areas of café

Extensive experience managing a kitchen / food program previously

Minimum of 5 year experience in head cook positions

NJ or NY Food managers license required

Must present well, can do attitude and thrive in fast-paced environment

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally

Basic math and written communication skills

Ability to perform physical requirements of the position (lift up to 50lbs) and use hands repetitively for pushing, pulling and fine manipulation

Compensation Benefits

Compensation based on experience & expertise $20 - 30 per hour includingTips
