PACKAGING MACHINE MECHANIC - 3RD SHIFT
SHIFT: 10:15 PM - 7:00 AM
MAHWAH, NJ LOCATION
SUMMARY: Responsible for all maintenance operations within the packaging department including preventative maintenance program and complex troubleshooting
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Initiate start-up of packaging machines (Bartelt, Piltz, Circle) and filling line equipment.
Ensure all safety protocols are in place
Support the changeover of all machines to handle other products, which vary by size and other properties
Learn to do changeovers and perform set-ups once more experienced in mechanic role
Document equipment maintenance activities in appropriate logbooks
Review machine and maintenance issues with Operations Manager and make recommendations for improvement and/or take corrective action
Communicate and work with Production Supervisors and operators with instructions for proper operation of equipment
Complete critical repair form when replacing equipment on production lines
Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and plant equipment and complete associated paperwork
Work with various departments in the company to ensure quality products are being made
Maintain knowledge of production and quality systems/GMP
Maximize time spent on packaging lines and help out when necessary
Troubleshoot machine malfunctions to maintain maximum production and quality
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
Ability to carry out a large number of manual assembly and machine related duties in compliance with customer and Acupacs quality and quantity standards
Excellent visual inspection required to identify any defects on line
Good interpersonal skills
Demonstrate good safety, personal and cGMP habits
Ability to work independently and efficiently
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience as a packaging machine mechanic
Ability to be crossed trained & multitask in multiple positions
2-3 years of experience and basic mechanical skills
Able to manage competing demands and identify those that are most important to complete first in order to ensure efficient operations
Abilities and experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
Pneumatic and some PLC work experience
Electrical skills 480 volt to 24 volt
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Workshop experience and familiarity with tools, grinders, and welders
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School diploma/or equivalent
Must have ability to read, write and comprehend operating procedures in English
Minimum 5 years relevant experience or trade school with basic Mechanical and Electrical concepts desired
Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Lock Out Tag Out, and OSHA regulations
