About the role

We’re looking to add a Manager of Stock Plan Administration to support Shopify’s growth in its employee equity program. This role will play an integral part in Shopify’s success by scaling our stock administrative function to better support the high-level growth Shopify has experienced, and assist in scaling the equity program as the company continues to grow globally. You’re a self-starter with a passion for customer service and a history of delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You’ve also got a passion for improving efficiencies and administrative processes at all of your workplaces!

You will be working on things like:

  • Day-to-day administration of our employee equity programs

  • Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our equity database on the Shareworks’ platform

  • Develop and update equity procedures as needed

  • Serve as a key point of contact for employee equity inquiries and resolve any potential issues/concerns raised by employees

  • Ensure that personal notifications (as well as system-generated notifications) are delivered to individuals with stock options with upcoming expiration dates

  • Collaborate with Sr. Stock Plan Administrators in preparing and delivering employee equity presentations and other employee educational opportunities

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, H.R., Tax and Accounting Teams

  • Responsible for managing annual employee surveys and both Section 6039 and Canadian CCPC-related filings/reporting

  • Support Payroll Team with required periodic and annual reporting requirements not managed directly by Equity

  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities, as required

Qualifications

  • Experience in the design, implementation and management of equity compensation plans including stock options, restricted stock units, restricted stock, performance stock units, and deferred stock units. Bonus: Experience with employee stock purchase plans.

  • Subject matter expertise using Shareworks by Morgan Stanley

  • Experience ensuring data integrity within the Shareworks’ system

  • Experience with mobility taxation and reporting for equity compensation

  • Experience with providing support in connection with executive ASDP programs (known as 10b5-1 programs in the U.S.A.), as well as in managing automated ASDP programs.

  • Familiarity with global tax-qualified equity programs

  • Bring exceptional communications skills to equity in developing and rolling out creative and meaningful employee communication programs

  • Possess excellent Excel skills, and the ability to work with large databases using pivot tables and other data analysis functions

  • Possess strong work ethic and high degree of integrity in working with highly confidential information. Also, support of building/maintaining appropriate control points as envisioned by SOX.

  • Flexible to work extended work hours during critical periods such as during peak RSU vesting periods, year end and during special projects

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.

  • Ability to function independently but also collaborate effectively cross-functionally.

  • Experience managing people and teams.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to perform under tight deadlines.

  • Undergraduate degree and 5+ years experience in a global equity management role in a publicly-held company.

  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation (Level III) strongly preferred
