Job Description: Position Summary:

The world's largest non-profit educational research organization (https://www.ets.org/) with a long history of advancing the quality of education with advanced EdTech is looking for a Director in Software Engineering Technology Division.

Director of Software Engineering\ a strategic leadership role with experience in leading high caliber technical teams to scale and modernize online transactional platforms using cloud-native technologies serving tens of thousands of concurrent users and evaluating results for millions of students in some of the most consequential assessments in the world.

The successful Director of software engineering will be

  • Leading several high caliber technical teams to develop and support large scale customer facing web,mobile apps, apis and data services flawlessly in the cloud using Java based opensource frameworks and modern technologies such as AngularJS, NodeJS, Lambdas, SQS/SNS, NOSQL databases on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
  • Build and execute Platform strategy working with Product Owners to modernize customer experience as well as re-engineering monolith to cloud native microservices on AWS.

  • Continuously measure, improve velocity and maturity of Agile and devOps Practices towards faster delivery of business value to customers.

    • Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the development, deployment and maintenance of technology solutions in CR scoring Platform and Services.
    • Oversee the deliverables of several cross-functional DevOps teamsin CR Scoring Capabilities made up of Product owners, Scrum masters, UI/UX designers, Software developers, esters and engineers etc.

    • Lead within and across Agile teams to deliver technology solutions promptly to meet customer demands.
    • Champion and steer architectural best practices in delivery of technology solutions that are highly usable, reliable, secure, high performing and with operational excellence.
    • Champion, and steer agile and devOps best practices to improve velocity within the organization.

    Experience and Skills

    Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses:

    A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience is needed.

    Relevant Experience and Skills:

    • 10-15 years of progressive experience in Software development and Leadership roles with extensive experience in building and managing large-scale platform solutions.
    • At least 5 years technical and managerial experience leading Fullstack technology teams using open-source framework and technologies using Java,JSF,Spring, Hibernate and Oracle

    • At least 3 years technical and managerial experience leading Fullstack technology teams using modern web and cloud native technologies such as Angular/React, TypeScript, NodeJS, NOSQL/SQL/Redshift databases, Lambdas/containers, SQS/SNS/Kafka etc. on AWS.
    • At least 5 years' experience in people management.

    • Sound knowledge and experience inleading, measuring and implementing Agile /devOps/cloud- Practices
    • Sound knowledge and experience in leading design, strategy and architecture of technology solutions, resource planning, hiring and execution of projects & programs.
