Job DescriptionOur Policy & Government Affairs team collaborate with government entities and policy organizations at local and national levels. We address legislative and regulatory issues that promote the discovery and development of innovative medicines, vaccines and animal health products while improving and protecting patient access to care.Overview:This Associate Director, Managing Editor supports the Editor in Chief in the development and execution of the overall communications strategy to drive the company’s strategic priorities, effectively tell the company’s story and build the corporate brand.This individual will be responsible for managing internal and external communications for owned channels with the ability to work at a strategic and tactical level to manage, create, edit and flight content for an ever-expanding set of channels and platforms including: intranet, internal and external social media, corporate website, e-mail, video and more. The Associate Director, Managing Editor will manage a team of content creators (direct and indirect reports) and content spanning long-form editorial, video and social content. The individual in this role will need superior team and project management skills, and possess the ability to help lead a team in an agile fashion in response to key company priority and external events. The individual in this role will also be responsible for editorial planning, and managing the editorial calendar.This position requires a candidate with a discerning eye on a large volume of content and the ability to help triage and sequence high-quality communications across a variety of channels. The individual in this role will need the maturity, confidence and emotional IQ to effectively and professionally support and decline communication requests across the organization.Given the global footprint of the company, this position will need to be knowledgeable of cultural differences that shape communication needs and preferences across regions of the world.Scope of work and core responsibilities includes:Coordinate with Editor in Chief to formulate and manage an integrated content strategy and communications plan.

Generate, review and edit communications across a multitude of internal and external channels.

Support execution of editorial planning and strategy, driving content ideas to the proper channels and setting appropriate project timelines.

Manage a team of writers and content creators; effectively assign and review content for channels.

Be an expert in channel strategy, audiences, best practices, and legal/compliance requirements in order to help guide effective content development and support Editor in Chief and Global organization in content decisions.

Ensure the implementation of corporate messaging across channels.

Partner with channels team to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of communications and implement new approaches to improve engagement.

Maintain consistency of corporate messaging and acts as a steward of company brand.

Education Minimum Requirement:Bachelor’s Degree with 6 or more years of communications experience OR a minimum of a high school diploma with at least 10 years of equivalent experience which could include: communications, media, and/or military.​ Position Qualifications :5-8 years of professional experience.

Proficient knowledge of social media environment, digital communications, and visual communications.

Experience in a newsroom environment, ideally broadcast TV and/or digital is a plus.

Experience in a communications or marketing function in a large, heavily-matrixed, multinational company.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, and possess strong organization, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent oral and written presentation skills.

Ability to juggle competing demands and high-pressure situations.
