JOB TITLE Contract, Enterprise Storage Engineer CITY South Plainfield STATE NJ TAX TERMS W2 EXPERIENCE 7+ Years INTERVIEW MODE Telephonic/Skype JOB DESCRIPTION: The Contract, Enterprise Storage Engineer, position is responsible of supporting, troubleshooting, and resolving enterprise storage issues and operations including management and monitoring of storage platforms and related technologies on a Microsoft/Linux platform. This includes selection of new solutions by utilizing knowledge of industry standards and best practices to ensure enterprise storage systems are secure, reliable, and efficient globally. In this role, he or she is responsible for supporting and implementing IT standards and processes and promoting the knowledge across the team & all end users. The Enterprise Storage Engineer ensures adherence to relevant regulatory requirements in local countries for privacy and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate. Job Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for evaluating and scheduling system patches, upgrades, and changes to the storage system software and hardware.
  • Ensure enterprise scalability and performance by proactively monitoring capacity and performance of the storage systems to support business growth and demand.
  • Provide reports as necessary to support audits and keep stakeholders informed on the overall health of the storage platforms.
  • Maintain documentation of configuration, operation and troubleshooting procedures, and service records for storage hardware and software.
  • Discover opportunities for automation by identifying manual, repetitive, tactical operational workloads and develop automation scripts, tools, and/or frameworks to optimize and standardize.
  • Available on a 24x7x365 basis when needed for production impacting incidents
  • Install, configure, support, and maintain storage area networks and associated technology including SAN Arrays, SAN Switches, and NAS Filers.
  • Perform System Administration tasks on UNIX, Linux, Windows, VMWARE, and Cloud based systems that utilize the Enterprise and Cloud storage solutions.
  • Manage existing Private, Hybrid, and Public Cloud Storage resources including Block, File, and Object level storage solutions.
  • Design, build, and test Enterprise Storage solutions including NAS, SAN, Object and Cloud storage solutions.
  • Plan, coordinate, manage and perform data and platform migrations between various vendor Enterprise Storage solutions.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • 6+ years of prior experience in an enterprise-level, highly complex environment consisting of the below areas:
  • Storage array administration of, Dell/EMC VNX, Synology, Dell Compellent and Nasuni arrays.
  • In-depth knowledge of administering and supporting enterprise virtualization and storage solutions, Cisco UCS, VMware, EMC storage arrays and data protection solutions
  • Cisco SAN switch understanding and administration
  • Administration of NAS Filers including NetApp and small NAS devices.
  • Linux, UNIX, Windows, and VMWARE operating systems system administration a huge plus
  • Cloud Storage solutions administration including in Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform environments.
Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management, Computer Science, or related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in information technology roles
Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
