Network Operations Team Lead

Onsite position in Weehawken NJ $90-120k base + discretionary bonus Our client hosts and maintains the infrastructure for one the largest electronic trading infrastructures in the world and is currently seeking a Network Operations Team Lead. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced environment and grow your network skillet. The ideal candidate will have prior NOC experience in a financial services environment utilizing Cisco & Arista technologies.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of networking concepts and systems, including Routing and Switching, WAN/LAN, and Cisco and Juniper network devices.
  • Administer network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, and Zabbix to ensure network uptime and performance.
  • Experience in Incident Management, ITSM, Problem Management, and Change Management.
  • Responsible for ensuring all tasks assignments and work are completed during scheduled shift. This includes monitoring over time.
  • Plan, train, and provide mentorship to NOC L3, L2, and L1 engineers.
  • Participate in F2 outage calls and escalate network events in a timely manner to the appropriate team during crisis situations.
  • Work directly with the customer and Network Engineering support staff to identify and troubleshoot network issues with the goal of isolating the root cause of the problem.
  • Perform and execute Data Center installation projects including racking and stacking of servers and network equipment.
  • Strong Structured Cabling expertise with the ability to gather requirements, design, install, test, and document.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead process and performance tool optimization for our Network Operations Center.
  • Work with leadership to provide input on strategic and complex projects/programs.
  • Coordinate interactions between the project and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate project activities and track deliverables and action items.
  • Delegates activities to appropriate NOC team members.
  • Maintain accurate detailed records of all internal process and documentation as directed by Management.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of routing protocols and monitoring tools.
  • Utilize the OSI model as a guide for systematic network troubleshooting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues during normal/emergency situations.
  • Detail-oriented to manage multiple priorities effectively and multi-task with success.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • BS/BA or equivalent demonstrated expertise in operations management or related field.
  • Four (4+) years of data center operations/technical experience in an IT environment is required.
  • IT Certifications (such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP) are critical for this role.
