Title: Sr. Solution Architect – Duck Creek: Duck Creek Competency CenterLocation: Whitehouse Station, NJDuration: 6 months contract to hire Our client is the world's largest publicly traded property and casualty insurer. The Duck Creek Platform Solution Architect (this role) will be responsible for the architecture, design, performance, build, deployment, and support of core insurance platforms for our client built on Duck Creek Technology. A suitable candidate is a successful, experienced, and accomplished technology leader with significant hands-on experience in cross-platform design and has a deep passion for technology and architecture.

This role will be required to plan, manage, monitor as well as influence, differentiate, and guide both business and technologies teams across multiple divisions of Our client through the various phase of the SDLC. The candidate is expected to actively collaborate with the business, business architects, and BA's along with development teams, test teams, Enterprise Architects, Information Security, Data & Analytics, Digital Technology, and other shared services teams to build cutting edge underwriting and policy admin platforms which push the norms/boundaries of Duck Creek platform all with a cloud-first mentality.

This role requires thought leadership, change orientation, seamless execution, strong relationship management, and effective communication capabilities with both business and IT resources of all organizational levels.

Scope/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for architecture & design of products on Duck Creek Policy Platform including design of inheritance models, data models, common capabilities, and integrations.
  • Owns the Duck Creek Solution and designs/develops technology patterns/frameworks to deliver the solution effectively and efficiently while maximizing reuse.
  • Act as the primary design owner of the Duck platform solution & associated infrastructure while collaborating with businesses to assist with capacity planning, discovery, envisioning, and prototyping of new features & capabilities.
  • Act as a broker between divergent business and IT teams to bring them together, share knowledge, solve problems, design common reusable assets and maximize the use of existing capabilities and frameworks.
  • Work closely with project management and delivery leads to identify key activities and owners while ensuring alignment and feasibility of all planned deliverables and related dependencies and include all optimization feedback
  • Build and maintain relationships with our business and IT stakeholders across the enterprise while providing support, updates, and issue resolutions for their respective Duck Platforms or internal initiatives which leverage Duck Creek.
  • Develop end user-focused platform solutions across all layers of Duck Creek technology architecture and showcase broad knowledge of all architecture layers and capabilities in each layer of the Duck Creek Platform
  • Support infrastructure teams in build-out, availability, performance, reliability and ensure that all non-functional system requirements will be met.
  • Stays on top of Duck Creek Technology platform as well as industry trends including Digital Transformation, InsureTech, AI/Machine Learning, etc.

Location:Core teams are primarily located in Whitehouse Station, NJ which is the preferred site of employment, however other office locations and remote employment options are also acceptable. Travel to Whitehouse Station, NJ, and/or surrounding area 1-2 weeks a month is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience as a Solution Architect, leading technical teams with a strong software engineering background
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience in system development and implementation preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • At least 7 years of experience in insurance technology projects/programs
  • At least 7 years of experience with Duck Creek Policy Platform
  • At least 7 years of experience in engineering, designing, and implementing large & complex systems & application architectures
  • At least 5 years of experience in performance engineering & optimization of distributed systems in API based architectures
  • At least 5 years of experience leading systems integration projects with many internal and external interfaces
  • At least 5-10 years of hands-on experience in technology stack such as Microsoft.Net, Java, ASP.NET, IIS, BizTalk, MQ, SQL Server, HTML, XML, XPATH, JSON, CSS, XSLT, etc.
  • Knowledge of message bus technologies (Kafka, MQ, Amazon SQS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various cloud design patterns and common security patterns
  • Hands-on knowledge of Duck Creek Policy, native API layer, Anywhere API, Duck Creek Author, and building manuscripts, the Duck Creek Express UI, platform configuration files, support/debug tooling, and large schedule performance-enhancing Duck platform features
  • Superior communication skills and ability to interact with business and IT resources at all levels
  • Experience with systems integration to third parties, internal systems, and downstream systems as well exposure of products and services to external partners or risk aggregators.
  • Good knowledge of Data & Analytics technologies such as Data Lakes, Business Intelligence Tools, Predictive Models, 3rd Party Data.
  • Good knowledge of MicroServices & API Mgmt., JavaScript Frameworks such as Angular, Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft Azure is preferred.
  • Ability to motivate team members and effectively delegate responsibilities to ensure timely delivery.
  • Experience with AGILE methodology
