Job Summary

The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

The Cross-Disciplinary Engineering Office is looking for an experienced , highly motivated systems engineer with mission experience who can deal with complexity, innovate, adapt to new situations, and bridge disciplinary boundaries to produce deeper insights in support of our Albuquerque customers including the United States Space Force (USSF) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA ). This is a full-time position based in Albuquerque, NM with the option for a hybrid working environment .

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working with customers to improve their organizational systems engineering and program management processes
  • Providing system acquisition, architecting, and engineering expertise in the national security, civil, and commercial domains.
  • Participating in studies such as systems architecture analyses, technology development planning and evaluation, organizational effectiveness studies, and risk assessments across program lifecycles .

  • Integration of Aerospace knowledge and analysis to provide responsive recommendations to the customer leadership for on-going and new programs
  • Developing innovative capabilities and solutions that support our nation's space, launch , ground and nuclear safety capabilities.
  • Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed

This position is available as Engineering Specialist or Senior Engineering Specialist

What You Need to be Successful

Engineering Specialist

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent to include, but not limited to, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.

  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience working across government programs
  • Experience in systems engineering across the mission lifecycle
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with Aerospace, government, and contractor personnel
  • Travel to contractor and vendor facilities as required
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Senior Engineering Specialist

Same requirements as a Member of Technical Staff noted above, in addition to:

  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience working across government programs (includes time acquiring applicable MS, MBA, and/or PhD)
  • Experience in systems engineering across the mission lifecycle including requirement development for large scale programs

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams with Aerospace, government, and contractor personnel

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Demonstrated success in organizing and leading cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute studies and assessments and generate quality products

  • Experience working with small satellite and prototyping missions
  • Experience tailoring systems engineering processes to a variety or risk tolerance and development lifecycle environments
  • Exposure to multiple mission domains such as ground systems, launch or on-orbit systems
  • Demonstrated experience with MBSE tools
  • Relevant work in space systems or nuclear weapons systems

  • Active TS/ SCI Clearance and/or Q clearance
