Trans-Loader Job Description:

Trans-Loader is a member of a work crew performing terminal operation, railcar unloading, truck loading, and general site maintenance and repair. Works in a team completing projects, work tasks, using equipment, insuring personal and team safety at the direction of a Shop Manager, Terminal Manager and Safety Director. The employee participates in performing various trans-loading operations, facility maintenance tasks and equipment maintenance as well as the efficient operation of both the facility and the equipment. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions, extremes in temperatures, and hazards associated with equipment operation and material handling. Work is supervised by the Shop Manager/Terminal Manager for adherence to instructions and established standards.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Conduct daily duties/tasks assigned, communicate with fellow team members, and maintain company standards of safety, product quality, and production.

Perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks such as completing routine preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, removing trash and debris from facility, cleaning up loose sand, mowing grass and cutting weeds and assisting crew on all operational tasks.

Practice safe and efficient operations in accordance with company policy and federal regulations

Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of equipment, systems, and other aspects of the facility in accordance with approved procedures.

Participate in daily safety briefings and complete thorough shift changeovers.

Follow proper work methods and standards; monitor crew work quality; insure adherence to time schedules and safe work practices.

Operate and maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks such as, trans-load pits, conveyor systems, structures (lime shed), dust collector systems, wash bay equipment, load scale, and scale house facility.

Perform equipment repair and maintenance duties on all bulk plant storage silos, conveyors, utilization of conveyor maintenance checklist to ensure all greasing, belt adjustments, etc.

Proper Donning of PPE will be required for each operation conducted that will vary based off the MSDS or SDS sheets provided by management. PPE will be inspected and stored properly when not in use.

100% tie off above 4ft will be observed and enforced at all times in the bulk plant and trans-loading facilities. This is in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23.

Incident reporting will be required immediately following the incident, including near miss events, injury/illness events. Report will go directly to Safety Director and Direct reporting manager.

Trans-loading operations will take place with 2 trans-loading personnel present at all times. Tractor key will be in pocket of trans-loading operator. This will be observed 100% of the time.

High Visibility vests will be worn at all times while working outside

Facility maintenance and repair duties will be assigned by the shop and terminal managers

Truck and trailer washing will be assigned by the shop and terminal managers. While performing truck and or trailer washing, it is critical that you wear the proper protective equipment. This includes Tyvec protective suits, goggles and face shields.

You must read and fully understand the Safety Data Sheets for all chemicals you work with. Additional training will be provided, documented, and required on all right to know specific documents including SDS and MSDS. (OSHA CFR 1910.1200)

Yearly mask fit testing is required for respiratory protection and is required to be donned when performing trans-loading duties. Maintenance, cleanliness, and storage are the responsibility of the person required to don equipment. (Reference OSHA 1910.134)

Quarterly performance evaluations will be conducted to identify areas of opportunity for improvement on aspects of the tasks being conducted, as well as identify areas of opportunity for advanced training if needed.
