POSITION:Â Quality Engineer I or II

REPORTS TO:Â Quality Manager

DEPARTMENT:Â Quality

LOCATION:Â Albuquerque, NM

EXEMPT/HOURLY:Â Exempt

SALARY: $50,000 - $70,000, depending on experience and level

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for being a Quality Advocate for our Customers. Will work with Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Sales to ensure that customer and company quality requirements are implemented and followed. In addition, maintain a thorough knowledge of ISO and MIL quality requirements to ensure continuous compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and provide feedback to Sales on customer specifications, purchase orders, etc., by recommending exception conditions and/or insuring Customer requirements are properly converted into procedural requirements.

Review and approve engineering changes, procedures and drawings.

Develop and implement Quality Control Plans including FMEA.

Work with others on product quality issues and respond to customer questions regarding quality issues.

Ensure that internal and external corrective actions are implemented.

Obtain, administer and maintain various company and product-related certifications and qualifications.

Manage incoming Quality Assurance (IQA) and Quality Conformance Inspection (QCI) functions of the Quality Assurance Department

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Follow and support Lean and 6-Sigma initiatives

Support Supplier Development and Audits as well as Internal Quality Audits.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ

BS Engineering or equivalent education or experience

Training in Lean and 6-Sigma

Trained in J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610

Experience:ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ

Quality Engineer I: Minimum 1 year experience in quality or manufacturing engineering in the aerospace/electronics industry

Quality Engineer II: Minimum 5 years experience in quality or manufacturing engineering in the aerospace/electronics industry

JOB SPECIFICATIONS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

Experience in AS9100 quality management systems.

Knowledge of general quality principles including process control and validation, continual improvement, statistical techniques, root cause analysis, and auditing.

Knowledge and experience interpreting mechanical and electronic drawings.Â

Prefer experience with GD&T.

Must have good interpersonal and teamwork skills

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Access in particular)

Prefer candidate with supervisory and management experience

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work Environment: Office environment where the noise level is generally quiet to moderately noisy.

Weight Requirements: Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 40 pounds.

Body Movements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to stand, sit, and move about facility for long periods of time. Ability to use hands and fingers.

Work Position: Combination of sitting, standing, and walking around.

Sensory Requirements: Vision, speech, hearing, smell and touch are routinely used in day to day functions.
