Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We currently have an entry-level vacancy for a Research Operations Administrator to join our team You will be supported by an established Coordinator and support our researchers within the Te Pūnaha Matatini Centre of Research Excellence with effective and efficient research administration.

Although this is a

fixed-term contract due to run for 5 months there may be anoption to extend or be considered for other administrative roles at the university.

Alongside your administrative team you will:

  • Provide operational research support to the Research Operations Manager and Research Operations Coordinator within Te Pūnaha Matatini.
  • Assist the research team to organise events, collect relevant information and assist with approval processes
  • Coordinate and administer requests for room bookings using the university Web Room Booking system.
  • Support the day to day running of the office by actively ordering, collecting and distributingstock, mail and required items

We are looking for someone who loves to communicate with fantastic interpersonal skills.

This is a position that requires the management of a high volume of demands, so you may need the ability to complete your work autonomously whilst balancing the complexity of team dependant activities.

Your ability to ensure actions are completed or moved forward at the right times will demonstrate your excellent customer service focus, through reliable, efficient, and accurate execution of service deliverables. You add value to the team by connecting with people across levels in a positive manner, as we consider relationship management a key element of the role.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

To be considered, it is essential that you have tertiary qualifications or demonstrable previous experience in a supportive administrative position. You will thrive in this role if you have:

  • Experience working with senior managers in an administrative role.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • An advanced level of oral and written English Language communication skills (you will be able to take minutes, effective notes, and type quickly and accurately).
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
