Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico for San Juan County (in Farmington, NM) is looking for a FT Match Support Specialist to focus on the Navajo Nation communities and surrounding areas (i.e.Kirtland, Shiprock, etc).
Bilingual Navajo/English is required
BA is required Social services, sociology, psychology or related field is preferred. College transcripts will be required. Assessment and relationship development experience with child and adult populations; understanding of child development and family dynamics. Must have car, valid drivers license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums. Must pass federal background check.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Effectively create and maintain partnerships with all sites to ensure a smooth program and constant flow of child referrals.
Recruit, interview, and enroll children and volunteers from the sites for the program and match the youth with appropriate mentors.
Identify and develop relationships with tribal contacts for program growth and development.
Continually assess the match (adult mentor & child) relationship focusing on: child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction. Real and/or potential problems and barriers are identified, addressed and resolved as early as possible.
Ensure child safety
Develop, promote and implement individual and group match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and re-engagement strategies.
