Job Description
Square has an exciting career opportunity for a Global Strategic Sourcing Manager based in San Francisco that will be responsible for the supply of products and services essential to Square’s global operations. This is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a demonstrated background in procurement/strategic sourcing capable of both hands-on individual contribution and thought leadership in a dynamic environment. The role will focus on driving adoption and efficiency through process and system optimization and proactive stakeholder outreach.
The role will leverage your category experience, technical aptitude and data analysis skills to help define innovative methods and implement tools to bring efficiencies, and meet regulatory and audit requirements, as well as create accurate and timely reporting. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and communication skills and a proven ability to build relationships with business stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment of objectives and priorities. The position will report to the Global Procurement Lead.
This role requires a continuous improvement philosophy, demonstrated through ongoing refinement of procurement policies/procedures, the development of strategic evaluation frameworks and education of key business partners on best practices and market trends.
Establish and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders aimed at identifying, understanding and fulfilling their requirements
Proactively collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to conduct RFx, lead contract negotiation with suppliers; develop negotiation approaches, fallback positions and acceptable terms and conditions through contract completion and identify key benchmarks to measure contractual arrangements
Develop and maintain indirect category strategies to meet business objectives (e.g. best cost, quality, service, resilience.)
Initiate and execute vendor rationalization plan(s) to optimize existing vendors to deliver cost reduction, supply assurance, quality improvement, innovation and increased vendor utility
Review existing contracts and understand business requirements; formulate guidelines and design standard vendor contract protocols
Assist to establish vendor life-cycle strategy to oversee planning, sourcing and selection of new vendors, manage data for vendor performance and manage vendor off-boarding and transition
Assist in development financial analytics to support commercial term negotiations with performance dashboards and ROI based evaluation tools
Identify and realization of cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs without compromising supply assurance or quality
Continually explore new technologies to optimize performance, efficiency, and transparency to stakeholders
Proactively work to resolve performance issues with assigned suppliers to ensure effective and timely resolution
Support other ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of procurement/strategic sourcing experience; in a high growth technology or fintech environment preferred
- Bachelor’s degree, Masters degree preferred
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to influence others, including senior leadership
Self-directed, able to work independently, as well as work in a team-orientated and fast paced environment
Superior interpersonal and presentation skills with proven track record of success
Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills to problem solving with a focus on managing within a team environment with strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
Ability to successfully leverage technology to extract and analyze data
