Square's Communications team shares with the world how Square empowers businesses of all types and sizes with powerful and elegant tools to help them start, run, grow, and adapt. To enable us to speak directly and authentically to the thriving, dynamic audience of Latinx business owners and entrepreneurs, we're looking for a Spanish Language Communications Lead to join Square's Communications team. A core part of our Global Communications Team, you will report to the Head of Business & Product Communications for Square. This position is based in the US, with the option to work remotely.

As a Communications Lead at Square, you will craft, contribute to, and execute communications strategies to help Square bring its ecosystem of products and services – including point of sale software, small business loans, e-commerce tools, payments technology, hardware, and more – to businesses in the US and internationally, with a special focus on Spanish-speaking businesses.

You Will:

  • Manage and execute Square's Spanish language communications strategies to build Square brand awareness among Spanish-speaking business owners in the US and internationally.
  • Support the Head of Business & Product Communications, and partner with the broader Business & Product team, in creating and executing communications programs that build awareness of our products, showcase our customers, and highlight our technology, including participating in major launches and announcements.
    • You will also manage the internal relationships and external perceptions for one or more products within Square's ecosystem, with room for growth over time.
  • Develop and maintain reporter relationships at Spanish-language media outlets, with a focus on local, business, tech, and vertical publications.
  • Create written materials, including press releases, data reports, briefing documents, communications plans and FAQs, blog posts, and other collateral.
  • Work with many teams inside Square, including marketing, investor relations, legal, government relations, product, design, internal communications, and others, and within our parent company Block.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 5+ years experience, either in an agency or in-house role.
  • Business-level fluency in both Spanish and English with demonstrated writing and editing skills.
  • Previous communications experience with a B2B technology company and/or financial services company.
    • Bonus points if you've worked at a company in the same industry as any of Square's products (such as payroll, restaurant tech, business banking & lending, beauty tech & appointment booking, etc.)
  • Experience working simultaneously on a variety of communications scenarios, especially product launches, proactive campaigns, and new market expansion.
  • Media relations skills, with specific examples of creating coverage and managing reactive issues with key Spanish-language publications.
  • A knack for uncovering stories, data, customer testimonials, and other insights that can drive coverage and advance company narratives in the down-cycles between product launches or announcements.
  • A desire to help further our purpose of economic empowerment through impactful storytelling.
  • An appreciation of the Oxford comma.
