Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking a part-time Program & Legal Assistant who is passionate about protection of the natural environment to perform administrative duties to support WRAs mission and the smooth functioning of WRAs Santa Fe office. This position is ideally suited for someone with experience as an administrative or legal assistant. This position will report to WRAs Clean Energy Program Deputy Director in our Santa Fe office.

Location

The position is based in WRAs Santa Fe, New Mexico, office.

Job Responsibilities

- Assisting WRA Clean Energy Program staff and experts by providing legal and general office support.

- Providing reception and phone answering.

- Making or assisting in travel arrangements on behalf of staff.

- Office management (ordering or purchasing office supplies, assuring offices are maintained, mailing packages, coordinating IT-related repairs, etc.)

- Preparing and reconciling monthly expense reports and reimbursement claims.

- Keeping office organized via mail intake, filing, managing dockets and cases, and updating case logs.

- Assisting with preparation of reports, studies, litigation/docket files and binders; locating and preparing exhibits; filing documents with agencies and/or courts; and tracking case dockets.

- Other tasks as assigned, including providing occasional assistance to WRAs Communications & Marketing Director and Western Lands Program Director.

Qualifications

- Administrative office and/or legal assistant experience.

- Exceptional time management skills.

- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage a deadline-driven docket of regulatory litigation.

- Strong communication, writing and editing skills.

- Proficiency with computers and general office equipment; mastery of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

- Helpful, but not required, is having a legal work background and expertise, with an emphasis on administrative law.

- Passion for conserving and protecting our natural environment.

Salary and Benefits

Part-time for 20 hours per week at $15.86-$21.00 per hour, based on relative experience. Benefits: generous vacation leave, sick leave, paid holidays, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, and paid sabbatical leave after 5 years. This is a non-exempt position.
