Job Description

Our Waihi Laboratory is looking for someone to join their team to fill this interesting role.

We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant who will also be the Sample Preparation Leading Hand. Sample preparation is the sorting and processing of gold and mineral samples, followed by the crushing and pulverising of these samples, utilising our sample preparation equipment.When working in the Laboratory these samples then needed to be analysed in accordance with operating procedures.

Qualifications

You will be using your skills working in various parts of the Waihi Laboratory, helping make sure our sample equipment and machinery is maintained. As a Leading Hand it will be important that you also help the team by ensuring sample process planning, storage and quality levels are kept consistently high.

The roles involve general manual handling, and light to medium lifting.

For success these roles require a high level of energy, as well as superior attention to detail. You need to be prepared to be flexible around working hours and tasks as the job will involve rostered days including weekend work, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with others in a team environment.

Additional Information

If you have the below qualities and experience we are interested to hear from you:

  • It would be an advantage if you have had some experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality focus.
  • A reliable and committed team member with some experience be a leading hand or as a supervisor.
  • Demonstrated skill in following operating procedures including strict health and safety requirements.
  • Good verbal communication and able to maintain accurate written records.

Shift pattern is working weekdays, 8 hours starting 6.00 am
