The squad is responsible for enterprise enablement and deployment of Linux as a viable workstation alternative: designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Linux solutions for the desktop. IBMers are our everyday consumers and we focus on improving their Linux desktop experience every day.This job position will be based on-site in Armonk, NY.Responsibilities:You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and squad members to understand requirements and design solutions.
You will design and code new solutions to support new releases of Linux, Linux components, or applications.
You will collaborate with the QA/Test Team to develop unit test cases.
You will package tools and applications using Red Hat Package Management system (RPM).
You will leverage Agile methods to deliver software for one of the largest RHEL desktop deployments in the world.
You will focus on continuous improvement, innovation/automation, and increased velocity to deliver.

3+ years of experience with Linux (preferably RHEL or CentOS)
At least 1 year experience in scripting languages (bash, python, gtk, Java, JS, C)
Experience with source control versioning and maintenance using GIT on GitHub
Solid troubleshooting, reasoning, and problem solving skills
Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system
Advanced workstation/laptop hardware knowledge
Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseSound knowledge on Linux virtualization concepts with good understanding of Hypervisor, Virtual Machine, etc.
Hands on knowledge of qemu, kvm, and libvirt
Experienced with deployment automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Satelllite or similar.
Experienced with Linux networking configuration (wired, wireless, virtual)
Strong RPM packaging skills: spec files, scripts, triggers, macros, patching, rebuilds
Experienced with Agile / DevOps methodologies and agile tracking tools such as Jira
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or similar certification
