Job Description

We are looking for an individual who will effectively build the profile of the Institute by taking responsibility for the development and execution of internal and external marketing communications and campaigns for multiple audiences across a range of platforms.

The successful applicant for this part-time position will report directly to the Institute Operations Manager in the Liggins Institute. The position is a permanent part-time role of 0.7 FTE (26.25 hours per week)

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

Reporting through to the Institute Operations Manager, You will also have close working relationship with the Director, Research Staff and Research Support Staff, Operations Team and a functional relationship with Central Marketing and Communications, Alumni and Development Manager, IT Team and Uniservices.

The ideal candidate will bring well-developed interpersonal skills and a collegial approach to their work. They will be experienced in stakeholder engagement and advocacy, and expert at working collaboratively.

This role will suit individuals with very strong marketing expertise and commercial acumen combined with an entrepreneurial approach that demonstrates excellence. Candidates should also have excellent written communication skills, the ability to translate scientific concepts into Plain English, and the skills to communicate research impact to multiple audiences.

It will attract individuals who have a high level of drive and those who are energised by the opportunity to be part of a unique organisation whose research delivers a significant impact on health outcomes and have the ability to work across multiple projects and work independently

Applicants will need to demonstrate a measure of achievement and success in their career path – particularly in the areas of marketing and communications.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to build an organisation’s brand reputation and stakeholder relationships.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake

  • Develop and manage marketing strategies and communications to effectively build the profile of the Liggins Institute.
  • Relationship management of Liggins Institute staff and students to plan and deliver key events and to develop content and collateral.
  • Knowledge of and ability to identify media platforms and opportunities to promote the profile of the Liggins Institute.
  • Manage the research, coordination, copywriting, editing and proof reading for all communications, including internal when required.
  • Build positive brand associations with both internal and external stakeholders, including within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and across the University
  • Create new opportunities to engage and recruit postgraduate candidates
  • Manage and further develop the communications of a diverse set of stakeholders, internal and external, including community groups and public.
  • Plan, promote and deliver public events for the Liggins Institute
  • Plan and develop promotional collateral for the Institute including photography, video and print.

These responsibilities include planning and managing communications strategies that include web content, digital communications and email marketing, as well as communications via traditional media and print collateral.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree or relevant teriary qualification.
