Job Description

TheFaculty of Medical and Health Sciences are seeking

two full-time permanent Group Services Administrators with a focus on stakeholder service, attention to detail, and ensuring things are done in an efficient manner. One will support theSchool of Optometry and Vision Scienceand the other will support the School of Population Healthand the School of Nursing.

You will undertake a range of activities primarily focusedonteaching support and course administration, including assessment and examination administration for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. These are core activities with processes driven by the University’s teaching schedule and deadlines.

What is Group Services?

Group Services is indispensable in making sure day-to-day operations are moving forward at the University. We are both student and staff facing, and the Group Services Administrator is the key link who provides admin support to our academic staff to ensure they have everything they need to deliver to their students.

The position includes anything from data entry to taking meeting minutes or even formatting the exam scripts. We are often the ‘go-to’ or ‘subject matter experts’ so our organisation and people skills need to be second to none.

As a Group Services Administrator, you will:

  • Provide general administrative support to academic staff and students

  • Undertake assessment and examination administration, exam scriptsformattingand other activities focusedaroundteaching support and course administration.

  • Be supporting our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with general queries

  • For our School of Optometry GSA, you will be the face of our department, sitting in on our reception and ensuring guests are greeted, and our office is well stocked.

Our ideal candidate will bring the following:

  • Previous experience in a dynamicenvironment or admin role with a deadline focus environment. With the ability within standard operating procedures and work independently.

  • You will be a “people person” and will not be afraid to ask questions or follow up with stakeholders

  • You will be a confident user of Microsoft Word, Excel andhave the ability topick up other systems quickly

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage a busy workload
